About Limonio Siġġu tal-Ikel

Limonio huwa siġġu tal-ikel maħdum għal spazji interni b'diversi stili ta' disinn. Is-siġġu għandu linji nodfa u dahar bijomorfiku ssimplifikat li joħloq kuntrast mas-saqajn rqaq u mirquma, u b'hekk jinħoloq bilanċ asimmetriku. Il-qafas espost jinżamm minimu u jitlesta b'dettalji tal-bronż. Id-dahar tal-plywood milwi u l-post fejn wieħed joqgħod bilqiegħda huma magħquda permezz ta' trapezji tal-injam solidu mwaħħla bil-bronż. Il-fowm ta' densità għolja u l-pożizzjoni mirquma jagħtu lis-siġġu dehra ħafifa. Il-produzzjoni tgħaqqad metodi industrijali max-xogħol tas-sengħa.

Unique Properties
Its clean lines, the contrast between a fine simplified biomorphic shaped back and the thin yet strong legs creates an elegant asymmetrical balance. Its lightweight appearance, the exposed minimal frame enhanced with brass detail, ensure its function as a dining chair and as a modern and sophisticated design piece.

Production Technology
The chair gains it lightness through a strong tapered stance and high density foam. Connections between the bent plywood backrest and seat are via solid wood trapezoids pegged with brass.
Design Challenge
In the dozen years that we have been collaborating with designers and and designing our own chairs, we are constantly reacting to the thoughts and comments of our commercial parters, be they retail sellers, hotel specifiers, interior designers or architects. Our goal is always to create something that is unique, that can inhabit its own design space and introduce some new ideas. For the Limonio, we concentrated upon the detail. The brass pinned trapezoid connectors and the mask like shape of the backrest define this piece.
Research
We were trying to design a chair that could happily sit in surroundings of different design language. The chair should be light in weight and appearance to juxtapose with our dominantly weighty tables. It should convey the personality and humor of our brand and play to our mixed production practices of technology and craftsmanship.
Inspiration
Inspired by the great designs and shapes from last century, exploring new minimal frames in which distinctives details can be integrated without being strident. Using know how and craft-oriented makers, from a postindustrial approach, the piece is unique. I call it Limonio as it is fresh and soft, but still has character (acid) like the drink.
Project Duration
Ten months. March 2019 - Jan 2020.Developed between Barcelona and Ho Chi Minh City. It will be exhibited at VIFA (Vietnam) March 2020.
Operation Flow
This chair has character, confidence and humor, however it is not boorish and self centered. It happily sits alongside pieces of different style and personality. Whilst it gathers attention and admirers, it does not scream look at me.
