Utkarsh Gautam and Zulqarnain Najar · CLIENT: Atomberg Technologies pvt.
Atomberg Intellon is a water purifier for household use. The purifier senses incoming water quality and routes water through only the required treatment stages. This adaptive flow reduces reject water, lowers energy use and limits wear on consumables, so filter life is extended. A taste setting offers flat, smooth and crisp profiles, and an embedded display shows live water quality readings. A halo status ring indicates tank level, operating mode and faults. A diagnostics mode identifies a single faulty component, and a companion app supports usage logging and filter life tracking.

- Unique Properties
- Atomberg Intellon is a smart, app connected water purifier that senses incoming water quality and routes it through only the required stages via Adaptive Flow. This reduces reject water, energy use and consumable wear, extending filter life. Taste Tune (Flat / Smooth / Crisp), live TDS and a Halo Status Ring make performance instantly understandable. Diagnostics mode enables identification of faulty component.

- Production Technology
- Adaptive Flow pairs water quality sensing with a real time control algorithm to actuate valves and route water through only the required purification stages. The product architecture prioritizes hygienic, easy to clean surfaces with subtle micro textures resist stains. A Halo status Ring communicates different modes, while an embedded TDS display provides real time input and output readings. Modular cartridges and on device diagnostics help isolate the specific failing component for efficient service. A companion app connects wirelessly for usage logging, filter life tracking and support.
- Design Challenge
- The main challenge was to translate complex, sensor driven purification decisions into a calm product users can trust without a screen. The team balanced reject water reduction, energy efficiency and taste personalization with manufacturable modular cartridges and serviceability. Building reliable self diagnostics that isolate a single failing element rather than triggering blanket filter changes required careful system design within cost and maintenance constraints.

- Operation Flow
- Users dispense water by pressing the front liver; The Status Ring shows tank level and operating mode at a glance and flags faults. users can switch between the different Taste profiles via app. The display provides live TDS analysis. Diagnostics mode pinpoints the specific faulty components, and the app enables one tap service, filter ordering and setting change.
- Research
- We studied water from many parts of India and spoke with families about what they consider “good tasting” drinking water. We tested samples, visited homes, and tried early versions of the purifier. Families also did blind taste checks. This helped define the main water situations and shape Intellon to adjust on its own, offer taste choices, and make service simple saving water and building trust.
- Inspiration
- Intellon was inspired by the mismatch between highly variable household water quality and fixed, over treating purification systems. The project set out to deliver trustworthy, great tasting drinking water with substantially lower reject water, energy and service waste, while presenting a calm, hygienic form with glanceable feedback of vitals.
