Production Technology
Foam molding with EVA material.
Design Challenge
Foam molding with EVA material is difficult to make the body uniform in size.
The most difficult part was that any error in the size of the body would result in the corresponding insole and outsole sizes not matching.
Until we were satisfied with the results, we made fine adjustments to the foaming rate and realized the commercialization of the product.
Project Duration
Product released in January 2023.
Inspiration
In Japan, there is a long tradition of wearing slip-on sandals called "tsukkake." The Japanese word "tsukkake" refers to the motion of slipping one's toes into a shoe. That is how this easy-to-wear style of footwear earned its name.In recent years, fewer and fewer households have placed "tsukkake" in their homes.
However, my brand FRONTIER did not want to lose this uniquely Japanese culture. Therefore, we developed a slip-on shoe that fits the modern lifestyle and can be worn both at home and in town.
