Desert Dream is a residence at Lisi Lake in Tbilisi, designed as a retreat from the city. The project combines stone, micro cement floors, and lime wash walls, with a ceiling that rises seven meters in the main space. Sliding glass walls connect indoors and outdoors, bringing continuity and daylight. Marble elements, custom sinks, concrete walls, and greenery build a clear composition. Furniture crafted from African wood adds character, while energy is supplied by solar panels, aligning function with lasting design values.

- Production Technology
- inspired by desert landscapes and urban needs, the design process involved mood boards, sketches, and 3D modelling to explore spatial harmony, light, and textures. Natural stone, wood, and glass were chosen for their tactile and sustainable qualities, while floor to ceiling glazing and sliding systems created a seamless indoor outdoor connection.
- Design Challenge
- The hardest part was designing a home that counters the density and noise of the city while staying modern and functional. Internally, the challenge was to balance aesthetics with psychological needs for calm. Externally, limits in materials, production and construction required creative use of glass systems, natural finishes and solar energy. These constraints were overcome through design choices that resulted in a space both sustainable and enduring.

2023-2024 - Operation Flow
- Desert Dream is a sanctuary designed to blend indoors and outdoors. Floor-to-ceiling sliding glass walls create a seamless connection between the house and nature. Spaces adapt from bright, sunny days to cosy, warm nights. This fluidity allows residents to rest, recharge, and escape the city’s energy, creating a daily rhythm of freedom and calm.
- Research
- The research for this project was conceptual and user centered, with the goal of designing a home that directly contrasts urban stress with natural calm.
Our methodology included mood boards, site analysis, and 3D modelling. We gathered data from environmental studies and lifestyle observations, with a focus on urban dwellers seeking a retreat from the fast pace of city life. The results highlighted a strong need for openness, light, and tranquility.
These insights directly informed the design, leading to the integration of desert inspired materials, greenery, and solar energy. This project demonstrates how architecture can have a profound impact by restoring well-being and inspiring a more sustainable way of living. - Inspiration
- Inspiration for the project was drawn from the tranquil beauty of the desert. The design concept captures the harmonious balance between vast, simple landscapes and the vibrant life of an oasis. This is reflected in the material palette, which uses soft, neutral tones of shifting sands and contrasts them with greenery. The result is an urban retreat that transforms everyday living into a serene, rejuvenating experience.
