First Bloom is a residential interior design for a family home in Taiwan. The interior of 171.9 square meters contains four rooms, a living room and a dining room. The social area forms the core of the home, with looped circulation around the living room and the kitchen island. A grounded cabinet provides storage, display and concealment, while a curved television wall integrates niches and indirect lighting. Warm wood veneer, soft white surfaces, rattan and travertine counters were chosen for durability and easy maintenance.

Unique Properties
The social area forms the home's core, with a looped circulation around the living room and kitchen island for natural movement and interaction. A grounded cabinet anchors the space, serving storage, display, and concealment. The curved TV wall integrates niches and smart lighting, shifting mood with illumination. Soft, diagonal curves of the kitchen island and dining table guide walking paths, creating intuitive circulation and fostering effortless family gathering.
Dimensions & Packaging
The 171.9 m2 interior accommodates family growth through subtle scale recalibration. Four rooms, a living room, and dining room are arranged to optimize master bedroom depth for a larger bed and maximize daylight at the L-shaped corner unit. The social area features looped circulation: paths around the sofa and dining island avoid dead corners, allowing sunlight to reach every corner and supporting effortless family interaction.

Production Technology
The palette blends warm wood grain with soft white, whose eggshell-like finish reveals gentle shadows under natural and indirect light. Wood veneer adds tactile familiarity, while rattan elements bring breathability and lightness. Travertine countertops anchor the kitchen island, balancing warmth. Materials are chosen for durability and ease of maintenance, allowing daily life to leave natural, embraced traces throughout the home.
Design Challenge
The primary challenge involved refining structural beams and calibrating curved proportions. The design could not merely pursue visual appeal; it had to align with daily rhythms. Each curve was recalculated according to its position to avoid repetitive formalism and maintain natural visual flow. Additionally, with white and wood as the dominant palette, even slight imbalance could result in monotony. Light, material texture, and tonal depth required repeated adjustments to achieve harmony.
Project Duration
The project finished in May 2025 in Taiwan.
Operation Flow
After moving in, the family appreciated centralized storage, with a dedicated room for baby supplies, strollers, and large items, keeping daily cabinets uncluttered. Consolidation preserves tidy surfaces, while smart lighting and curtains follow timed settings-morning light gradually rises, evening light softens. Technology stays in the background, quietly supporting daily life and maintaining calm, organized living spaces.
Research
Inspired by 'blooming,' the design expresses life unfolding over time. Flowing curves in wood grain capture warmth and light, letting texture blossom into living forms. Walls, cabinetry, and circulation connect naturally, while dark wood wraps structural columns to soften rigidity. Indirect lighting highlights layers. The open plan fosters sightlines, light, and family interaction, allowing life to flow freely while maintaining depth and subtle layering.
Inspiration
Located in Linkou, the home belongs to a young family with a newborn. Rather than defining a style, the owners described life 'like a bud slowly unfolding.' The designers embraced 'blooming' as a theme, reflecting the family's shared rhythm. The space unfolds gradually-from morning light to circulation paths and the child's first steps-gently accompanying daily life with calm, bright presence.
