Flow of Light is a residential interior design for a high ceiling duplex home. The design uses a monochromatic palette of black, gray, and white to create a calm and balanced atmosphere. Silver Fox marble, Black Marquina marble, wood veneer, and bronze mirror add warmth and texture. Mirrored surfaces reflect light and extend visual depth. The first floor holds the open plan communal area, while the second floor holds the bedroom. A central corridor separates the living room and the dining room, guiding a clear traffic flow.

Unique Properties
This high-ceiling duplex showcases a modern aesthetic, blending clean lines with a sense of openness and refinement. A monochromatic palette of black, gray, and white evokes feelings of peace, cleanliness, and balance. Mirrored surfaces reflect light and extend visual depth, thus creating intriguing illusions within a space. The first floor serves as the communal area, while the second floor houses a bedroom. By clearly delineating different zones, the interior design establishes a fluid and well-defined traffic flow.
Dimensions & Packaging
In this 529 square meters space, the layout includes an entryway, living room, dining room, kitchen, family room, bedrooms, and bathrooms.

Design Challenge
In the kitchen, sliding glass doors can create seamless transitions between rooms, allowing for flexible space usage and a more fluid layout while preserving the natural flow of light. A home with a high ceiling allows for the installation of large windows, maximizing natural light intake and air flow. This design cultivates a spacious, airy atmosphere free from any sense of confinement.
Project Duration
The project finished in 2020 in Taipei City, Taiwan.
Operation Flow
The first-floor communal area adopts an open-plan layout that invites light to flow freely. A central corridor clearly delineates the living room and dining room, while the mirrored surfaces on the ceiling visually connect the areas, blurring boundaries without disrupting the spatial clarity. This design enhances the emotional bond and visual continuity across the interior.
Research
The TV wall brings together black, gray, and white hues and incorporates wood and stone textures to create visual tension and dynamic balance. The clever use of mirrored accents makes the space sparkle by reflecting light around the room. This design helps to soften the rigidity and stillness that a monochromatic palette might otherwise impose, infusing the space with a dynamic atmosphere.
Inspiration
When space is no longer defined by walls but guided by light and materials, a silent flow and balance naturally emerge. We aim to fuse materials, light, and traffic flow by laying a rational foundation with tones of black, gray, and white. This palette is elevated with a refined interplay of wood and stone, infusing the space with warmth. The thoughtful use of mirrored surfaces can significantly enhance the room's overall ambiance, making it feel more open and airy while adding a touch of elegance and blurring the line between reality and illusion.
