Grand Overture is a hospitality hall of about 1000 square meters in Shanghai, China. Arched structures guide the flow of light and shadow across several levels. Off white stone, earth toned wood and metallic accents form layers of texture and warmth. Art Deco style stone inlay patterns and herringbone stone flooring refer to the historical trading houses of the region. A curved staircase leads visitors upward, and the elevator lobby holds vintage floor indicators. Classical arches and Baroque curves are reinterpreted through a modern geometric approach.
