Shinjiro Heshiki · CLIENT: Nago Pineapple Park

La Pina Distillery is a retail and tasting facility located in Nago, Okinawa. The interior is themed around exploration and the search for the water of life. At the center stands the Brandy Pineapple Fountain, an object measuring 4400 millimeters in width, depth and height, shaped like a distiller from which pineapple brandy appears to rise from underground. Piping-style displays, lighting and an aged copper finish recall a large old factory. Wall fixtures in iron sheeting combine with wood grain to form a calm space that adult visitors can also enjoy.

Production Technology
Pineapple objet art standing in the center of the facility was designed in the style of a distiller with a fountain motif.
The image is as if pineapple brandy is gushing from underground.
The objects are surrounded by piping-style display and lighting around the objects.
The intricate piping like lighting and the rusty aged finish of the copper the impression of steampunk.
The wall fixtures are finished with iron sheeting to tie in the wood grain and create a mature space.
Design Challenge
The first project, Winery Lounge, and the second project, Sweets de Pineapple, started in 2019 when covid-2019 went viral, and the third project, LA PINA Distillery, started in 2022.
Many compromises had to be made, including changes in scale and design due to covid-2019.
In order to meet legal requirements, construction was divided into two phases, with the distillery completed first and the retail area completed later, which significantly extended the construction period.
Project Duration
This project planning was started Okinawa in July 2021, finished construction in July 2022, and opened in Nago Okinawa in Aug 2022.
Operation Flow
Principle of distillation
The method itself is the same as for whiskey and other spirits.
In the case of brandy, fermented white wine is placed in a distiller and heated.
Inside the distiller, the heated vapor comes out of the top, and the vapor is cooled down again to be converted back into a liquid with a high alcohol content.
Research
Type of research:Verification of the necessity and cost effectiveness of a giant pineapple fountain object
Objectives of the study :To develop a design for an object that would have a comparable impact to that of a real distiller operating in a factory inside a glass wall
Methodology, data collection and research tools used:Creation of a miniature model of one fifth of the real thing
Participants:Conception, constructors and Client
Effects of the research on real phenomena, including design: Success in bringing impact and harmony to the space
Inspiration
This place where the explorer arrived in search of the water of life was the Brandy Pineapple Fountain.

Conception Design Team have added a new design to this place, which is not only casual and playful, but also has an authentic feel and shape.
By dynamically arranging distillers and barrels in the motif of a large old factory, Conception Design Team have added an entertaining and unusual element.
