Production Technology
As mentioned before, these earrings are inspired by artworks of Monir. The primitive sketches were performed by hand and inverted to Matrix Gemvision software to get Projet 3D printed resin models. The final product got polished and sanded by hand after casting with S925 and the molding process. sanding and polishing was the most challenging step of production.
Design Challenge
One of the most difficult parts of this design project was Farmanfarmaian herself! This ring, and actually this collection was a short story of her artworks; Being loyal without interruption in her designs was difficult.
Sanding and polishing was the most challenging step of production. Because of the edges and angles, it was too important to be more careful.
Project Duration
The initial idea of the design and inspiration from the Monir began in 2020. Research about Monir's artworks, simulations, and sketches continued until 2021. The production process finished in December 2021. The process from idea to implementation has been done in Tehran.
Operation Flow
Durable for daily use, lightweight, minimalistic, suitable for all ages and styles.
Research
Monir earrings belong to a collection with the name: "EXO". Exo is an abbreviation for Exotic, and we believe that "exotic" is a wonderful description for Monir Farmanfarmaian. She was an astonishing artist with fabulous artistic taste. Around the 1970s, she visited the Shah Cheragh mosque in Shiraz, Iran. With the shrine's high-domed hall ... covered in a tiny square, triangular, and hexagonal mirrors, similar to many other historical Iranian mosques, this event acted as a turning point in Farmanfarmaian's artistic journey, leading to her interest in mirror mosaic artwork.
Inspiration
In fact, everything in this world is fragile; from the heart to light and horn and to bone. Eventually, two parallel lines intersect at infinity and become a broken line. Monir earrings have been inspired by an artwork of Monir Farmanfarmaian that is preserved in Courtesy Hains Gallery. She was a brilliant woman who was fascinated by the geometry and mirror works of Iran. When the geometrical lines enter the realm of mirrors, the exotic meaning of being will be born.
