Oyane Saikaitoki is a shop and gallery interior created for Saikai porcelain from Hasami Town in Nagasaki, Japan. The shop occupies a basement floor, so a new entrance was added to improve access. A large staircase and an elevator were placed within a wall of a storage space on the ground floor, and both guide visitors to the shop, which uses two levels. Porcelain is used for the signage, the wall saggers and the pendant lights. The indoor area is 140 square meters and the outdoor area is 1150 square meters.

- My client runs a shop and gallery of the famous Saikai porcelain of Hasami Town in Nagasaki, Japan. My question when working on this project was: ‘What can I do which can only be done with this client?’ The answer was a total revamp of the internal and external structure while realizing the spirits of the artists using the materials of Saikai porcelain.
