ThoughtWorks is an office interior in Shenzhen, China. The design replaces the traditional closed office layout with open and connected spaces. Black, white and gray form the main tone, with accents of blue and red and with natural green plants. Smooth curves based on the contour lines of landscape terrain shape the lobby. A multifunctional area serves work, leisure, thinking and discussion. Conference rooms of several sizes support varied forms of communication. Large windows in the informal meeting area bring in natural light and outdoor views.

Unique Properties
The design abandons the traditional closed office format, and throws away the old fashioned layout and decorations. Defined by simplicity and technology, it goes without losing comfort and warmth. The designer creates a brand new design concept based on the characteristics of the city of Shenzhen, as well as the firm’s localization in Shenzhen.
Dimensions & Packaging
The designer turns the multi-functional area into a daily shared environment for work, leisure, thinking and discussion, creating “accidental collision” and “accidental encounter”. In terms of space shaping approach, it creates the multifunctional area mainly through elaborate consideration of various spatial communication paths.

Production Technology
In this case, the overall space takes black, white and gray as the tone, partially dotted with bright blue and red, and decorated with natural green. The white logo at the main entrance catches the eyes strikingly. The extended lighting styling is full of technology. The smooth curve of flows and twists, created with the contour lines of the landscape terrains, makes the whole lobby more attractive, presenting a dynamic impression for visitors and employees.
Design Challenge
The slopes make other activities possible. It is hoped to help the employees stretch themselves after hours of sitting during the break, and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and compassionate care in the venue. In the connected space, the multi-function tea room is placed at one end, decorated with green plants and POSTER. Storage cabins and hidden trash cans are provided at both sides of the bar counter, creating a clean and tidy rest area for the employees.
Project Duration
The project finished in January 2019 in Shenzhen, China.
Operation Flow
More people-friendly design puts the employees in a more comfortable environment. The informal meeting area adopts large French windows to introduce natural light and outdoor landscape - giving employees another office experience.
Research
To meet the work pattern of the firm, a variety of conference rooms are designed for various forms of communication, including private conference room, large conference room, small conference room, and multi-tier three-dimensional conference space. The three-dimensional conference space mainly provides diversified communication experiences. The employees can find quiet upper corners to stay alone, or have interesting communications with colleagues in the upper and lower tiers, which arouse fancy inspirations.
Inspiration
Bring people together, generate exchange of ideas and collision of inspirations, so as to motivate innovation and changes, this is an embodiment of the spirit of this technology firm and the original intention of our design.
