This design presents time as a process of accumulation rather than disappearance. Each day leaves a trace, and each month becomes part of a larger visual sequence. Instead of turning pages, the user removes and inserts monthly sheets like slides in a projector. This action creates a clear rhythm of transition. The calendar encourages people to experience time not as something that is lost, but as something that builds gradually in layers.
Press Kit
- Unique Properties
- This desktop calendar reimagines time through a slide based system. Instead of flipping pages, each month is removed, inserted, and moved from front to back. Precisely laser cut patterns create changing visual compositions, while the reusable acrylic holder extends the product life cycle. A clear layout separates reading and writing areas, and each month uses a distinct color palette to enrich everyday use.

- Production Technology
- This project adopts 450gsm Favini Contact Pack-FCF01, selected for its refined matte surface and
structural stability. The substantial thickness provides firmness while maintaining a gentle
chromatic expression, allowing light to pass through the die-cut forms and produce clear, layered
shadows.
The calendar combines laser engraving with high- precision die-cutting. The design pursues an
extreme 2mm edge clearance, balancing structural integrity with visual lightness. The paper must retain sufficient support along the edges while presenting crisp and delicate contours. Each month
features distinct die-cut specifications and formal variations, placing rigorous demands on tooling
accuracy, paper tension control, and registration precision.
Extensive prototyping and testing were conducted to calibrate laser focus, cutting depth, and fiber
tolerance, ensuring that every line remains clean, without burn marks, fraying, or distortion. The production process emphasizes technical precision and meticulous craftsmanship, positioning the
die-cut not merely as a decorative gesture, but as the core structural and spatial language of the work. - Design Challenge

- Started in August 2025, completed in December 2025, in Taiwan.
- Operation Flow
- Time passed. The user pulls out a page from the calendar and places it behind, as if sending the memory deep into his mind. Simultaneously, through the laser-engraved seams, the new month presents a fresh look. This action is akin to swapping slides, allowing memories to be retrieved and savored at any time.
Users are free to freely swap out the month combinations, letting the calendar present different appearances according to their mood. - Research
- We focused on identifying the most suitable paper for large area laser engraving in order to achieve precision without scorch marks. Through repeated testing, we found that laser power was a key factor, though its effectiveness had limits. Material choice also proved critical. Thicker and denser textured paper performed better and was less likely to scorch.
Our findings are as follows. First, surface masking protection was the most effective method. Applying masking tape to the surface, especially on light colored paper, helped block smoke and scorch residue. Second, optimized laser parameters were essential. High speed and low power reduced heat accumulation, while multiple cutting passes prevented excessive heating in one area. Third, airflow and cooling improved results. Strong air assist removed heat and smoke quickly, and short pauses allowed the paper surface to cool. Finally, operational techniques also mattered. Back side engraving helped preserve a cleaner front surface, thicker paper improved heat resistance, and regular lens cleaning reduced unwanted heat scattering. - Inspiration
- Time Slide suggests that time does not simply disappear. Instead, it accumulates and forms layers of perception. Some months feel light and vivid, while others unfold slowly and quietly. These variations in the experience of time create subtle shifts in the aesthetics of everyday life.
The design treats a month not as a page to be turned, but as an element to be exchanged, much like a projected slide. Through the act of removing and inserting, it establishes a rhythm that reframes time rather than merely moving it forward. - Image Credits
