Wabi Sabi Beauty is a residential interior design for a newly built home of 66 square meters in Taipei. The layout was changed from three rooms into a master bedroom, an open study and a walk-in closet, which enlarged the shared living areas. A white backdrop makes the interior feel more spacious. Decorative paint imitates the grain of stone wall panels and adds a natural texture. The open study connects to the living room and includes a large screen television. The kitchen holds an island, appliances and a wine rack.

- Research
- The design project is tailored for the living needs of one to two people. The designer reconfigures the original layout, transforming two small rooms and a master room into an open study, a spacious master bedroom, and a walk in closet. This adjustment improves the overall functionality and creates a more balanced spatial layout. Considering the household’s cooking habits, the design also incorporates a kitchen island, essential appliances, and a wine rack.
- Inspiration
- The Japanese writer Ango Sakaguchi once said, Beauty doesnt lie in extravagant decoration, but in true existence. This idea reflects that the essence of life’s beauty is found in simplicity and nature. In this project, the concept is expressed through material textures and the use of negative space, creating a calm and harmonious atmosphere.
