About Duxiaoxiao Primaire Functie: Digitale Assistent met Kunstmatige Intelligentie
Duxiaoxiao is een digitale assistent met kunstmatige intelligentie in de gedaante van een virtueel mens. Duxiaoxiao communiceert met gebruikers via spraak, gezichtsuitdrukkingen en lichaamsbewegingen, waarbij geluid en visuele feedback worden gecombineerd. Antwoorden en informatie worden gepresenteerd op responsieve interfaces die zijn ontwikkeld voor Android- en iOS-mobiele apparaten. Door aanhoudende conversatie ontwikkelt de assistent verschillende persoonlijkheden en leert deze de voorkeuren van de gebruiker kennen. Het ontwerp ondersteunt het verwerven van gestructureerde informatie en biedt gebruikers een gevoel van gezelschap.

- Unique Properties
- Duxiaoxiao, with an appearance of digitalized human, is a new generation of AI digital assistant. Through AI technology, she possesses thinking, expression, emotion, and learning abilities like a human being. By communicating with users, she will gradually develop different personalities and constantly understand users’ preferences. Such anthropomorphic interaction brings a relaxing experience of acquiring structured information and knowledge and an emotional interactive companionship to users

- We create vivid expressions, motions, and words for Duxiaoxiao so that she can communicate with users like a friend through the combination of AI technology and Web 3D engine that balance the performance of a variety of devices. Using Sketch, Protopie, Adobe Effect design the app make the Duxiaoxiao fluent and attractive.
- Design Challenge
- One of the most significant challenges we faced is creating the humanlike interaction. We need to catch the features of this experience and design it. We built an ΑΙ digital human interaction system that integrates various forms of human-computer interaction and ΑΙ technology. It enabled Duxiaoxiao to have anthropomorphic thinking, expression, emotion, and independent learning ability.
- Research
- We used questionnaires, user Interviews, and desk research to collect user requirements of virtual assistants and the problems of existed products. Abundant research was performed throughout the design including script rehearsal, motion capture, emotion simulation, and 3D rendering to make Duxiaoxiao look authentic and vivid. We utilized small-scope tests, and collected and analyzed user feedback to improve user experience and product customer satisfaction.
- Inspiration
- Traditional AI assistants are characterized by interacting with users through voice, the experience of which lacks a sense of authenticity. We expect that AI assistants can provide natural, emotional companionship to users with its digital, face-to-face communication while maintaining the traditional voice interaction. Meanwhile, she can provide a new experience of acquiring structured information and knowledge through the audio-visual integration to adapt to a variety of application scenarios
- Project Duration
- The project started in January 2020 and debuted in China in July 2020, it is still going. The team members were based in Beijing, China.
- Operation Flow
- Duxiaoxiao features anthropomorphic multimodal interaction which can interact with users in a way that. Users can ask Duxiaoxiao by voice when they have questions, and she will display answers and information naturally through different motions, voices, expressions, and attractive interfaces. Users also can chat with Duxiaoxiao when they feel alone. Similar to communicating with friends, users will feel warm and acquainted.
