About Moon Chair Zelfbouwstoel
Moon Chair is een zelfbouwstoel gemaakt van massief hout. Het ontwerp maakt gebruik van traditionele pen-en-gatverbindingen in combinatie met zwaluwstaartvergrendelingen. Er zijn geen metalen verbindingsstukken toegepast, waardoor de Moon Chair in twee of drie stappen met de hand in elkaar gezet en weer uit elkaar gehaald kan worden. De stoel is vervaardigd uit Amerikaans notenhout en gevormd door houtbewerking. De afmetingen zijn 390 bij 340 bij 680 millimeter. Het platte verpakkingsformaat verlaagt de transportkosten en is geschikt voor online verkoop. De stoel is bedoeld voor jonge mensen met kleine woningen die regelmatig verhuizen.

- Research
- Nowadays, the young generation has lower income, small living space, likes online shopping, moves frequently and pursues a certain quality of life. They need flexible, space-saving, easy-to-use, simple and stylish furniture to improve their quality of life. Moon Chair skillfully uses traditional mortise and tenon structure, the whole product has no metal connectors, and can be assembled and disassembled with bare hands, and the beauty of its structure well demonstrates the wisdom of the predecessors. The flat design greatly reduces transportation costs and is ideal for online sales.
- Inspiration
- The current young generation of people with low income, narrow living space, like online shopping, often moving, the pursuit of a certain quality of life. We hope to design a new mortise and tenon structure based on the traditional mortise and tenon structure, combined with the toughness of wood materials, to realize a high degree of integration of the disassembling function, firmness and aesthetics of the chair!
- Project Duration
- The project started in April 2018 in Hangzhou and finished in August 2020 in Hangzhou.
