About The Board Skateboard
The Board er et sammenleggbart skateboard designet for enkel transport og oppbevaring. Brettet er laget av 57 sammenkoblede svinghengsler. Ved å folde hengslene i den ene eller andre retningen forvandles den klassiske cruiser-formen til en perfekt sirkel. I den sirkulære formen får The Board plass i en ryggsekk og kan oppbevares på trange steder eller stilles ut som et dekorativt objekt hjemme. Aluminium, jern og plast er brukt i konstruksjonen. Transformasjonsprosessen gir designet en tydelig visuell appell.

- Biggest challenges was manufacturing its complex dynamic structure and is considering open-sourcing the design as a DIY kit for 3D printers.
- Research
- Transformation is not just the change in appearance, but also the consideration of factors such as space, time, and circumstance to strengthen the purpose of transformation and the psychological level. In today’s product design, in order to make transformable products satisfy the users’ need, the designers usually introduce the transformable features to make them easy to carry and multifunctional simultaneously.
- Inspiration
- Most of the users have the stereotype in the usage of the products. If we get rid of the general form changing, there will be a different scenario for the users. The form changing process gives the users visual feeling and the intensity of it will be different depend on the various structures.
- Project Duration
- The design start in 2018 finish in 2019 July.
- Operation Flow
- The skateboard is made from 57 interlocking pivot hinges, by folding the hinges one direction or the other, transforming the classic cruiser shape into a perfect circle. Easy to fit in smaller places and even used for decoration.
