About Staycation Frittstående Villa

Design Challenge
The villa-type residence located in this region has to overcome a comprehensive problem encompassing potential impacts from typhoon, strong sunlight, local climate, and temperature difference. The grille design is adopted in the west part of the building to reduce strong sunlight, while using large-area glass windows to make north and east sides brighter. With designer's accurate estimation of distance, the building gets to stay close to the nature while keeping privacy and secure feeling.
Research
The villa is comfy and relaxing, with a high-end environment, while offering exquisite, diversified leisure life. Its entryway is made of large-scale stone to create a low-key ambiance. The 1st floor is designed to be the social/banquet room, and has a courtyard with water curtain wall. The 2nd floor has a terrace, a spa pool, wine cabinets, and audio-visual rooms. The 3rd and 4th floors are bedrooms with different styles. The 5th and 6th floors are multi-functional spaces for family time.
Inspiration
This project is located in Linkou District, Taiwan, an area surrounded by woods. The enclosure wall of the villa features a design with mountain-shaped silhouette effect, inspired by the valley topography around, and represents as the first step to embrace the nature. As for the materials, the wall consists of terrazzo and stone, showing the beauty of rusticity. During the night time, under illumination, the building looks like sky lantern-a symbol of peace and hope.
Project Duration
Location: Lincou District, New Taipei City, Taiwan (R.O.C)
Time: March, 2022
Operation Flow
"Light" is the core of this project. The villa has multifaceted day-lighting. Multi-level arrangement and front-to-back connection are used to make the space ventilated and bright, while forming a connection with the view. The staircase has the problem of western exposure, so the wooden grilles are used to adjust the sunlight and solve the overheating problem. The bathroom adopts switchable glass, which can change from transparent to translucent upon preference, to protect one's privacy.
