ਫੈਕਲਟੀ ਆਰਕੀਟੈਕਚਰ ਕਿਗਾਲੀ, ਰਵਾਂਡਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਥਿਤ ਇੱਕ ਆਰਕੀਟੈਕਚਰ ਸਕੂਲ ਹੈ, ਜੋ 5,600 ਵਰਗ ਮੀਟਰ ਦੀ ਥਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ 600 ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਲਈ ਯੋਜਨਾਬੱਧ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਡਿਜ਼ਾਈਨ ਦੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤ ਦੋ ਮੰਜ਼ਿਲਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਇੱਕ ਸਾਦੇ ਵਾਲੀਅਮ ਤੋਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਵਾਲੀਅਮ ਨੂੰ ਉਲਟ ਪਾਸਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਖ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਚਕਾਰ ਇੱਕ ਖਾਲੀ ਥਾਂ ਬਣਦੀ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਲਈ ਬਾਹਰੀ ਖੁੱਲ੍ਹੀ ਥਾਂ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਲੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਬਾਹਰੀ ਢਾਂਚੇ ਲਈ ਪੱਥਰ ਅਤੇ ਅੰਦਰੂਨੀ ਹਿੱਸਿਆਂ ਲਈ ਕੁਦਰਤੀ ਰੰਗ ਵਾਲਾ ਕੰਕਰੀਟ ਵਰਤਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਛੋਟੀਆਂ ਖਿੜਕੀਆਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਵੱਲ ਮੂੰਹ ਕਰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਜਦਕਿ ਅੰਦਰ ਵੱਲ ਮੂੰਹ ਕਰਦੀਆਂ ਵੱਡੀਆਂ ਖਿੜਕੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਤ ਦੇ ਬਾਹਰ ਨਿਕਲੇ ਹਿੱਸਿਆਂ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਛਾਂ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ। ਉੱਪਰਲੇ ਕੱਟੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਿੱਸੇ ਦਿਨ ਦੀ ਰੌਸ਼ਨੀ ਅੰਦਰ ਲਿਆਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਹਵਾਦਾਰੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੁਧਾਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।

- The firm responded to an international call for tender launched in March 2012 by the government of Rwanda for the design of a new architecture school to accommodate 600 students on a 5,600 sq.m. site not far from the existing faculty. For this project we began with a simple form on two levels which we distorted in the same way tectonic forces distort land masses: we pulled on opposite sides, making a gap in the centre that would form the outside area for the students.

- The difficulty of the project was to manage it from France, with a relay on site and to use only local materials.

- The firm opted for a highly architectural project using complex forms, driven by both pedagogical and environmental concerns, halfway between traditional architecture and contemporary design. This is a simple, didactic building designed to train the future architects of a developing African country whose population is set to double by 2050.
