About Coral Czajniczek

Coral to ręcznie wykonany czajniczek inspirowany misternymi formami i fakturami koralowców morskich. Pojedynczy uchwyt pozwala trzymać czajniczek z każdej strony — od góry, od lewej lub od prawej — co odzwierciedla różnorodne sposoby, w jakie odmienne kultury posługują się czajniczkiem. Wgłębienie z tyłu korpusu umożliwia uchwycenie i uniesienie czajniczka. Konstrukcja pokrywki została zintegrowana z uchwytem, dzięki czemu linie płynnie oplatają całą formę. Coral wykonano z ceramiki wałeczkowej, poddanej modyfikacji, rzeźbieniu i teksturowaniu, wykończonej szkliwem shino i wypalonej w atmosferze utleniającej.

Unique Properties
Coral-inspired, this teapot has a single handle that effectively encompasses handling the teapot from all directions (overhead, left or right) and is inclusive of the myriad of ways different cultures handle a teapot. The indent at the back of the pot allows the pot to be pinched and lifted. Incorporating the lid's design into the handle, the lines of the teapot pleasingly flows around the whole form.
Dimensions & Packaging

Production Technology
Coil-constructed, altered, carved and textured earthenware; shino glaze, oxidation fired (1200°C)
Design Challenge
The most challenging part was constructing the handle. Clay being a soft and malleable material prior firing made it difficult to maintain and keep the overhead handle in position. The highly intricate coral texture of the teapot also required a lot of meticulous work.
Inspiration
As a child, I loved visiting the beach with my family. Picking seashells and exploring the corals that were washed on the shores was my favourite pastime. Memories of these happy moments have always stayed firmly with me. Inspired by the intricacy and elegant details on corals, I created the series "Coral - Rhythm of the Seas", to commemorate the wonderful times of my childhood.
Project Duration
Started in January 2013 and finished in February 2013.
Operation Flow
With its single handle, this teapot can effectively be handled from all directions (overhead, left or right). It embraces a culturally myriad of ways of handling a teapot.
