About Erhu Cadeira

Erhu é uma cadeira inspirada no erhu, um instrumento de cordas tradicional chinês. O design utiliza a cultura nacional como linguagem do mobiliário moderno e explora um estilo chinês contemporâneo. A estrutura é simples, composta por apenas duas partes: a superfície do assento e as pernas. O encosto, a superfície do assento e a perna dianteira formam uma única peça de compensado curvado, prensada em um molde pré-fabricado. A superfície é folheada com madeira de freixo e nogueira, e as pernas são feitas de nogueira. O formato da perna traseira remete à perna em forma de casco do mobiliário de estilo Ming. As curvas acompanham o corpo humano.

Unique Properties: Inspired by Erhu, a traditional Chinese classical instrument, the design incorporated national culture as a language of modern furniture, exploring a new style of contemporary Chinese furniture.
The structure is so simple that there are only two parts: seat surface and legs. The chair back, seat surface and front leg are made of curved plywood as a whole, and the three dimensional seating space is completed with two dimensional curves fitting the shape of the human body.

Production Technology: The integrated shape of the seat surface, chair back and front leg is completed by pressing the curved plywood in a premade mold.
The surface used ash wood and walnut for veneering. The legs are made of walnut.
Design Challenge: The abstract timbre of Chinese classical Musical Instruments is interpreted in a figurative and modern style，On the basis of inheriting and developing traditional Chinese culture and craft, it used modern bentwood technology to make furniture with contemporary Chinese style.he structure is so simple that there are only two parts: seat surface and legs.
