Unique Properties
The sculpture distinguishes itself with its intricate design and profound symbolism. The artist has skillfully integrated butterflies around the figure of a woman, signifying freedom and transformation. The woman in the sculpture has her eyes closed, as if in deep thought or dreaming, and the butterflies that adorn her head and shoulders seem to communicate to the viewer that her mind and soul are unchained by the material world.

Design Challenge
From a technical standpoint, the sculpture demonstrates masterful casting skills and material manipulation. The choice of materials and the production process ensure the quality and durability of the sculpture, while also showcasing a reverence for traditional craftsmanship blended with modern innovation. Overall, "Butterfly And Lady" is an artistic amalgamation of tradition and modernity, freedom and spirit, tangibility and aspiration. It serves not only as an art sculpture piece but also as a philosophical contemplation on dreams and liberty.
Inspiration
The draws its inspiration from the artist's interest in the philosophical relationship between humans and nature, the interplay of the material and the ethereal. The fusion of butterflies and human form symbolizes transformation and the transient beauty of life. This piece contrasts the enduring nature of art with the fleeting life of butterflies, capturing ephemeral moments in a form meant to endure, reflecting a desire to hold onto the fragile beauty of existence within an everchanging world.
Project Duration
The sculpture was completed at the end of 2022 and participated in the Hong Kong FINA ART ASIA art fair in October 2023 and was selected as the exhibition poster. The sculpture is limited to 8 editions, one of which was successfully sold at the Hanhai Auction in Beijing, China in December 2023.
Operation Flow
This work is made using the lost wax method of traditional bronze sculptures, with rigorous modeling and novel conception. The uniqueness of this product also lies in the color treatment of its bronze surface. A thermal coloring process is used here, using chemicals to form a marble-like texture on the bronze surface under high-temperature barbecue. exuding a sense of classical elegance, while the butterflies are rendered in a gold-like material, creating a striking contrast with the base.
