This design project revitalizes traditional Chinese arts and crafts, allowing people to rediscover the modern charm of Chinese traditional arts and crafts. By extracting traditional patterns from clothing and ceramics, deconstructing and transforming them through modern design, endowing them with contemporary
Tupukuna & P'istuy: The visual elements are designed for flexible application across various events and activities. They adapt to different sizes and contexts without being constrained by fixed dimensions, enhancing the versatility and creative freedom of the design.
Etiquetakuna: Traditional Crafts, Cultural Innovation, Modern Design, Pattern Redesign, Chinese Heritage, Textile Art, Ceramic Design, Cultural Fusion
Ruway Tecnología: The production combines traditional craftsmanship with modern techniques. Patterns are digitally processed for precision, then applied to materials like textiles and ceramics. Techniques include digital printing, laser engraving, and high-temperature ceramic firing. This ensures durability, vibrant colors, and seamless integration of traditional motifs into contemporary products.
Diseño Sasachakuy: The main challenge of this project was to maintain the authenticity of traditional patterns while ensuring they fit into modern design aesthetics. Balancing cultural preservation with contemporary relevance required extensive research into traditional motifs and materials.Another challenge was the technical adaptation of traditional designs to modern production processes. Ensuring color accuracy, material compatibility, and design scalability across different products demanded continuous experimentation and refinement. Overcoming these challenges resulted in products that are both culturally meaningful and visually appealing.
T'aqwiy: This project, in collaboration with the Hangzhou Arts and Crafts Museum, explores how to revitalize traditional Chinese patterns through modern design. By studying motifs from traditional clothing and ceramics, the project aims to preserve cultural heritage while enhancing contemporary relevance. Through deconstruction and transformation, the designs integrate seamlessly into modern cultural products.
Kallpachay: This is a series of designs that integrates various traditional Chinese arts and crafts patterns into unique poster visuals. The project aims to blend the distinctive characteristics of Chinese craftsmanship with contemporary design elements, creating a fusion that highlights the beauty of cultural heritage in a modern visual context. Inspired by motifs from traditional clothing and ceramics, the design undergoes deconstruction and transformation, reflecting both historical depth and contemporary aesthetics.
Llamk'ay Pacha: The project started in Hangzhou in March 2023 and was completed in December 2024. The final products were exhibited at the Hangzhou Arts and Crafts Museum, showcasing the successful fusion of traditional Chinese craftsmanship with contemporary design.
Purichiy Puriy: The design process starts with extracting traditional patterns from Chinese clothing and ceramics. These motifs are deconstructed and reinterpreted using modern design techniques to balance cultural authenticity and contemporary aesthetics. The reimagined designs are applied to products like textiles and ceramics, ensuring both functionality and visual appeal in modern life.
