About Nina & Beni Intebe

Nina & Beni ni intebe ikozwe mu biti bikomeye yatewe inkunga n'imiterere y'ubwato bukozwe mu biti. Uduce tubiri tw'ibiti twagonzwe hakoreshejwe umwuka w'amazi ashyushye tugenda tugororokera hejuru y'aho kwicara, tubanza kuba amaguru, hanyuma tukaba aho gushyikiriza amaboko, amaherezo tugafata isura ikwiranye n'igice cyo hasi cy'umugongo. Iyi ntebe ikozwe mu giti cya ash, cherry, oak cyangwa walnut biva mu mashyamba abungabungwa mu buryo burambye, kandi irangizwa hakoreshejwe amavuta n'ibishashara kamere. Ibyuma bifasha gufata isura byaciwe ku mashini ikorera mu byerekezo bitanu ni byo biyobora igikorwa cyo kugonza ibiti hakoreshejwe umwuka ushyushye ndetse no gufatanya uduce tw'ibiti. Nina & Beni Intebe ni uwegukanye Igihembo cya A' Design Award cya Zahabu, ishimwe ry'agaciro gakomeye ritangwa ku bishushanyo biri ku rwego rwa mbere, bitangaje kandi by'indashyikirwa. Abegukanye Zahabu ni ibihangano birimo udushya twinshi, bifite icyerekezo kandi bimurika, bigaragaza impano, ubwenge n'ubuhanga bw'ababihanze. Nina & Beni Intebe biteganyijwe ko izaba igihangano gishimwa cyane, gishyiraho imigendekere mishya kandi gitanga agaciro katigeze kaboneka. Unique Properties: Two steam-bent strips cantilever over the seat to serve first as legs then armrest and finally mold to the lumbar area. The Nina & Beni chair is made from 100% sustainably sourced forests.

Production Technology: To achieve the complex geometry of the Nina & beni chair we use a 5 axis CNC to cut 2 molds which we then use to steam bend the solid wood strips to their form. We then use another set of cnc-cut counter molds to make the 3d lamination.
Design Challenge: The most difficult part was designing and building the 3 dimensional molds needed to build the chair.
Research: Sustainability is my design objective.
I use wood because it is the best short carbon cycle material, the complex shapes are steam-bent so as to create as little waste as possible.
These pieces are made from quality materials and designed to last a lifetime.
Inspiration: Inspired by the efficient yet beautiful forms of wooden naval structures. Boat building achieves aerodynamic forms that take advantage of the trees grain with little waste.
Project Duration: This project started in September 2019, was exhibited at The Stockholm Furniture fair in January then at the London design fair in September
Operation Flow: Solid wood chair meant to last a lifetime
Seat is removable and interchangeable.
