Unique Properties
This project, located on the 5th floor of the iconic Taipei 101 building, serves as the gateway for tourists to experience Taiwan's rich culture and geography. The goal is to create a welcoming and memorable experience for visitors while also maximizing commercial benefits. In the 30 minutes before and after their visit to the 88th-floor observatory, the design focuses on fulfilling the tourists' mental needs, managing queues, and providing refreshments and souvenirs. The wall lights are uniquely carved with family names written in traditional characters, while the front desk is designed to resemble Taiwan's highest peak, Jade Mountain.
Dimensions & Packaging
The plaza is surrounded by curved LED walls, to showcase videos of Taiwan landscapes, leading visitors to have a better understanding of Taiwan.
moving light balls, hanging fiber lights, souvenir shops, and 101 Café, the plaza has become a multi-function space for waiting, photographing, shopping, and exhibition.

Production Technology
Taiwan photography light plates

Various changing/steady light plates hanging from the ceiling are regarded as the topography and geography of Taiwan, linking the past, present, future, and people from everywhere in the world. Together with the TV wall at the back of the counter, the counter is made of Taiwan’s special green marble, providing the first to see the touching impact of Taiwan.
Design Challenge
The project is located in a very busy tourist spot. Research shows that before the Colvid-19 pandemic, there would be 290,000,000 visitors per year, which was 8000 visitors per year. The construction work had to be done only at midnight. Which limits the work time for the team, and is one of the challenges the team faces.
Research
The project incorporates landscape architecture principles and geographic design to create a unique and visually appealing space. Additionally, traditional Chinese calligraphy is incorporated into the design to add cultural significance and a touch of authenticity to the project.
Inspiration
This project draws inspiration from the captivating coastline of Taiwan. The ambiance is carefully crafted with an array of lighting options, catering to the varied preferences of guests. The stunning natural beauty of Taiwan is showcased in all its glory with the innovative use of curved LED screen walls. The result is an immersive and breathtaking visual experience that leaves a lasting impression on visitors.
Project Duration
2020 in Taipei
Operation Flow
The hanging light plates are designed to represent Taiwan's topography and geography, connecting people from different parts of the world through changing lighting effects. This design not only pays homage to Taiwan's rich history but also represents the present and future of the country. The lighting effects change frequently, creating a dynamic atmosphere that captivates visitors and encourages them to explore Taiwan further.
