Bla Bla is a contemporary serif typeface inspired by brutalist forms, featuring large open counters, and curved, round forms, creating a modern & elegant glyph set. The organic curves with gentle repetitions create powerful and harmonious forms. Designed to be a stylish modern family it is perfect for communication and branding projects.

Production Technology

The typeface was first hand drawn and developed in Glyphs.

Design Challenge

The challenge was to develop something completely new ad brutalism is more synonymous with sans fonts, so developing a new language and approach to a stylist serif typeface.

Research

One of the hardest parts of the design was translating architecture into a serif typeface. Through the study of sections and observations of light and shadow upon building structures we were able to identify forms that developed the shapes of the serif.

Inspiration

The inspiration for the typeface is in brutalist forms. Taking that inspiration from the ideas of architectural forms and developing it into a serif typeface, using forms and a mathematical grid.
