Theknoloji ya Tlhahiso
The Maria armchair is crafted from solid wood machined on 5-axis cnc, ensuring dimensional precision and production consistency. Structural joints employ reinforced traditional dowels and fittings, preserving artisanal integrity. The manual finishing with fine sanding enhances the natural texture of the wood. The upholstery uses a goose-feather–like fiberfill, a sustainable choice that maintains environmental appeal while delivering the same comfort and ergonomics.
Phephetso ya Moralo
The greatest challenge of the Maria Armchair was balancing aesthetic robustness with genuine comfort. The focus was on adjusting the padding to the ideal amount, ensuring ease of use and a welcoming feel. The chair needed to convey and deliver comfort, which required successive ergonomic refinements, cuts, and stitching aligned with the product’s language. In addition, challenges of CNC machining and sustainable material selection were overcome, merging tradition and innovation.
Dipatlisiso
The research for the Maria armchair was exploratory, aiming to combine comfort, affection, and sophistication. The methodology included ergonomic analysis, proportion testing, and the study of Brazilian carpentry. Data were collected through cnc prototyping, manual evaluations, and user interviews. Artisans and potential consumers participated. The result was a robust yet welcoming design that merges tradition and innovation. Its impact extends to the authorial furniture market, cultural appreciation, and the promotion of well-being at home.
Kgothaletso
The Maria armchair was born from the desire to create a piece that is both a refuge and a presence. Conceived around comfort, it takes on a role of satisfaction within the environment, transforming the living room into a space of welcome and pause. Its robust and embracing design invites immediate rest, evoking the feeling of being at home, in harmony with those we love.
Crafted in solid wood, inspired by the tradition of Brazilian carpentry, the piece combines technological innovation with art
Nako ya Projeke
The Maria Armchair project began in January 2024 in Medianeira, Paraná, Brazil, with the development of the concept and prototyping. It was completed in September 2024 after stages of CNC machining, technical refinements, and handcrafted finishing. The piece was officially launched in April 2025 in Milan, Italy, during the Salone del Mobile, marking its debut on the international contemporary design scene.
Tsamaiso ya Mosebetsi
The Maria armchair was designed to offer an intuitive and immediate experience: simply sit and feel the ergonomic fit and the embrace of its soft padding. Its welcoming design encourages a relaxed posture and invites prolonged rest, creating a sense of well-being in the space. It stands out for the balance between structural robustness and visual lightness, ensuring superior comfort and a striking presence in any environment.
