About Place Offentlig anläggning

Place är en offentlig anläggning i Taipei, Taiwan, med en total yta på 350 kvadratmeter och en inomhusyta på 106 kvadratmeter. Designen anpassar egenskaperna hos ett badhus, en innergård och en terrass. Metallkonstruktionen gör att besökare kan se genom rummet, där solljus och futuristiska element kombineras. Överlappande metallstänger och reflektioner riktar uppmärksamheten mot den ursprungliga arkitekturen. Ett vattenlandskap vid entrén förenar metall och sten och lämnar utrymme för växter att växa. En vit stålstege förbinder innergården med taket.

Unique Properties: The features of bathhouse, patio, and terrace are adapted to depict the appearance of past and the imagination of future with the contrast of virtualness and reality.
Dimensions & Packaging: The project is 350 square meter in total.
Interior: 106 square meter

Production Technology: The designer used a lot of metal construction to make people be able to see through; sunlight and sci-fi elements are fused together into the elegant space. Besides, by overlapping the metal bars and reflection, the designer would like to lead people appreciate the original architecture through the lines. The waterscape by the entrance merges with metal and stone material, vacating the space for plants to grow, which presents the symbiosis of inorganic and organic.
Design Challenge: Looking out the window, the courtyard is another virtual reality. The indoor elements extend radially to the outdoors with the common centre point. Along with the building, the stepped platform is paved with wood panels radially to solve the poor drainage.
Inspiration: Inspired from history, culture and life, the designer tried to create a space for people to feel immersive while walking into it.
Project Duration: The project finished in January 2021 in Taipei, Taiwan.
Operation Flow: People experience the process of observing and being observed through the white metal bars, glass, and mirror, figuring out the nature of objects. The white steel ladder connects the courtyard with rooftop where the view is broad; surrounded by greenery, people can relax their minds here.
