About Nus Nyumba ya Kuishi
Nus ni nyumba ya kuishi iliyoko Krete, Ugiriki. Muundo mkuu wenye umbo la U umeunganishwa na nyumba ya wageni iliyo chini ya ardhi. Miundo yote miwili inaongeza mwangaza wa upande wa kusini-mashariki na kuitikia mabadiliko ya pembe ya jua katika misimu mbalimbali. Nafasi mbili za jua, moja ikiwa na kivuli kilichowekwa kudumu na nyingine ikiwa na vipofu vinavyozunguka pamoja na ukuta mzito, huruhusu upashaji joto na upoezaji wa asili. Paa la kijani, nyuso za maji, njia ya uingizaji hewa na matundu ya paa yanayodhibitiwa huboresha ustarehe wa joto. Paneli za jua (photovoltaic), vipashaji maji vya jua na mfumo wa jotoardhi hupunguza kiwango cha matumizi ya nishati.

Nus Nyumba ya Kuishi ni mshindi wa Tuzo ya Shaba ya A' Design Award, utambuzi wenye heshima kubwa unaotolewa kwa miundo bora inayotofautishwa kwa ubunifu, ustadi na busara. Washindi wa Shaba ni kazi za ufundi mwingi na bunifu ya kushangaza zinazothibitisha uzoefu mpana, mawazo na ustadi wa wabunifu wao. Nus Nyumba ya Kuishi inatarajiwa kuwa kitu kinachothaminiwa sana, kupendwa na kuenziwa, ambacho ni cha kitaalamu na bunifu kwa kiasi kikubwa. Muundo huu ulioshinda Tuzo ya Shaba ya A' Design Award unajumuisha mbinu bora katika sanaa, sayansi, usanifu na teknolojia, na ni bora kwa umakini wake kwa undani. - Unique Properties
- The main criteria for the architectural decisions made, were the need for low energy footprint building designs, as well as the views towards pure Cretan nature. Τhe main U shaped residence along with the underground guest house volume, maximize the southeast exposure of the building, while they are taking advantage of the different angle of the sun rays during the seasonal cycles.

- Production Technology
- For natural heating and cooling, we created two solar spaces, one with fixed shading, one with rotating blinds and a mass wall. Water surfaces on the south walls, the green roof, the hiding of the western light, the vertical ventilation shaft with small openings towards the North and the controlled shading roof openings, lead to thermal comfort conditions. Photovoltaic panels, solar water heaters and the vertical geothermal system, contribute to minimize the building’s ecological footprint.
- Inspiration
- We believe in the integration of buildings into nature. Humble design tones present with more challenging architectural solutions, that take into account the sustainability and the ecological footprint of our built environment. Furthermore, the Cretan nature and landscape only needs a good frame to be appreciated or no frame at all. And this is what we did here. Minimum sq.meters, natural materials and welcoming volume decisions.
