After the mooncakes are enjoyed, the packaging undergoes a purposeful transformation: the lid is flipped to become a shade, instantly converting the empty tin into an elegant paper lantern-style ambient light with a soft, warm glow. This innovative dual-lifecycle design combats waste by turning disposable packaging into a lasting decorative object, seamlessly blending traditional Chinese mid-autumn symbolism with modern sustainable practice.

The designer sought to reimagine these cultural elements into a contemporary package that preserves the warm, inviting glow of the lantern. This fusion results in functional packaging that connects the celebration to cultural roots.
Давомнокии лоиҳа: The project was completed in August 2024. It launched for sale immediately upon finalization, with production and distribution commencing in the same period.
Ҷараёни кор: The product serves two distinct phases. In its primary phase, it functions as a protective and decorative mooncake tin. In its secondary phase, the empty tin is repurposed: the user flips the lid, which clicks into place as a lantern shade, and activates the integrated light switch. This simple action transforms it into a standalone ambient lamp, casting light through the hand-painted motifs. The intuitive, tool-free transformation is central to the design, emphasizing ease of use and encouraging sustainable behavior beyond the initial gift-giving occasion.
