The brass sheeting is the applied over the carved surface and molded, hammered and soldered to create the impression of a sold surface without any seams or connections.
Tasarım Zorluğu: The challenge on this piece was predominately the decision of what materials to use to create the organic effect of a water surface on metal to be floating all in one piece. Utilizing many materials such as resins, plastics, plasters, 3D printing, laser technologies and hand sculpturing to find the proper solution.
Araştırma: Much research was conducted on how to create a center piece that is organically shaped to resemble the surface of water. A great deal of time was spent pondering over design methods and the actual construction of a piece that has no connections, seams or any visible construction. Extensive experiments were conducted on how to have this visual appearance utilizing solid brass sheeting and complicated welding techniques to achieve a seamless organic surface.
