About Good Day شیز لاؤنج کرسی (آرام دہ نشستی کرسی)
"گڈ ڈے" ایک شیز لاؤنج کرسی ہے جو آرام و سکون کے لیے ڈیزائن کی گئی ہے۔ نشست ریت میں ڈھالے گئے ایلومینیم (سینڈ کاسٹ ایلومینیم) سے بنائی گئی ہے اور ایک ایلومینیم کراس بار سے معلق ہے، جسے وزنی ڈھلے ہوئے پائے سہارا دیتے ہیں، یوں نشست ہلکی پھلکی دکھائی دیتی ہے جبکہ بنیاد مضبوطی سے زمین پر جمی رہتی ہے۔ پتلی نشست کو مضبوطی دینے کے لیے فولاد کا اندرونی ڈھانچہ ڈھلائی کے دوران ہی اسی جگہ شامل کر دیا جاتا ہے۔ چمڑے کے گدے سانچے پر ڈھال کر بنائے گئے ہیں، اس لیے کوئی سلائی یا جوڑ دکھائی نہیں دیتا۔ ڈھلائی اور گدوں کے اندر نصب مقناطیس گدوں کو محفوظ رکھتے ہیں اور صفائی یا چمڑا تبدیل کرنے کے لیے انہیں آسانی سے اتارنے کی سہولت دیتے ہیں۔ کرسی کی چوڑائی 635 ملی میٹر، گہرائی 1600 ملی میٹر اور اونچائی 830 ملی میٹر ہے۔

- Unique Properties
- The aluminum seat is suspended from an aluminum crossbar and leg structure. The leather pads are formed to produce a clean look without stitching or seams.

- Production Technology
- The aluminum seat and legs are sand cast aluminum. The seat and legs are painted or polished depending on the look. The seat pads have a vacuum formed backer laminated with foam. The leather is formed over a mold to achieve a clean look. Magnets are embedded in the casting and seat pad to keep the pads secure to the frame and allow for easy removal for cleaning.
- Design Challenge
- The structure of the aluminum frame suspended under a leg structure proved an interesting engineering challenge. Creating the seat frame from cast aluminum was not only heavy, but also not structurally sound. An internal steel frame weldment was designed to be cast in place with the aluminum casting. In order to achieve pads without stitching or seams, forms were created to wet form leather into the seat shape. The leather was then adhered to the leather pads for a clean stitch free look to match the simplicity of the aluminum frame.
- Research
- An ergonomic model was created that allows for adjustment of length and angle of the seat, leg, back and lumbar. Adjusting the angles and length of the components allowed for the geometry to be tested by various users for maximum comfort. The chaise lounge is an experiential chair where the focus is on the comfort for relaxation. The seat and back angles were selected to give the user a sense of suspension and solitude while relaxing in the chair.
- Inspiration
- The Good Day was inspired by two artists recording a song in the music studio. The two complimented each other’s artistic styles with a play between powerful and smooth. Watching them create, I sketched a low-lying lounge chair with a thin floating seat suspended under a crossbar attached to heavier structural legs. The seat would appear light and floating, yet grounded by the thicker leg structure.
- Project Duration
- The lounge chair was first sketched February 2020 in a recording studio in Seattle, Washington USA. The prototype was completed in Seattle in September 2021.
- Operation Flow
- The lounge chair is static, but the leather pads are removable for cleaning and maintenance. The removable pads also provide the ability to change the look of the lounge chair with alternate leather colors or materials. The pads are held in place by magnets embedded in the aluminum frame and pads.
