About Giossa Wine Packaging
Giossa is a premium glass bottle for Prosecco sparkling wine. With this design, Gentlebrand pays homage to its territory and the Valdobbiadene hills, part of Unesco. The inspiration comes directly from the vineyard, clearly represented on the bottle with engravings of leaves, branches and grapes that make the bottle unique. Every detail is carefully thought to ensure feasibility from an industrial and technical point of view, without compromising the aesthetics. Giossa name originates from the Venetian dialect and means drop, recalling dew-making grapes shining in the morning sun.
Giossa Wine Packaging by Gentlebrand Design Team represents a distinguished achievement in contemporary beverage packaging design, demonstrating how structural innovation and decorative tradition may converge to create objects of remarkable visual and tactile presence. The work engages with longstanding European traditions of decorative glassmaking while asserting a decidedly contemporary sensibility through its restrained chromatic palette and sophisticated typographic treatment. The extensive bas-relief program covering the bottle surface draws upon centuries of viticultural iconography, translating the organic forms of the vineyard into a continuous sculptural narrative that invites both visual appreciation and haptic exploration. This dimensional approach to packaging design suggests an understanding that luxury goods communicate not merely through visual encounter but through the full sensory experience of handling and display. The technical execution of the relief work demonstrates considerable manufacturing sophistication, with the grapevine motifs achieving consistent depth and clarity across the curved glass surface. The chromatic decision to restrict the palette to near-black glass with rose-gold metallic accents represents a masterful exercise in elegant restraint, allowing the sculptural qualities of the relief work to command attention while the warm metallic typography provides essential brand identification and product information. The dual circular label placement creates an intriguing visual dialogue, with the overlapping forms suggesting connection and completion while maintaining distinct informational functions. This packaging design invites consideration of how material culture objects communicate value, heritage, and celebration, and how the vessel containing a product may itself become an object worthy of contemplation and preservation long after its practical purpose has been fulfilled.

- Production Technology
- The model has been made following the standard technical design process, starting from an initial handmade sketch till the modelling with a 3D CAD. The chosen material is glass and the production technology is the standard one for bottle glass manufacturing: a melted glass drop is blown in a mold getting the final container with the related decorations. The label is made of different papers (one with a wood effect) and is printed with offset technology to guarantee the best finishing quality.
- Design Challenge
- The biggest challenge of this design was the engineering of the bottle 3D model. Graphic elements recalling the vineyards with very little decorations like leaves, branches, birds, grapes, were applied to the container ensuring a tridimensionality effect.
- Project Duration
- The project started middle of 2021 in Gentlebrand company based in San Vendemiano and was finalized in order to be exposed at the Drinktec tradeshow in Munich in September 2022, where technical experts in the beverage industry from all over the world could appreciate the aesthetical and technical features of Giossa bottle design.
- Operation Flow
- Giossa design incorporates different process technologies like the production of a glass bottle with complex decorations, a label made of high-quality premium papers and eye-catching graphics. It’s made with modern production techniques to obtain a unique design linked to the territory and heritage of the wine.
- Research
- Gentlebrand started with the study of the Prosecco wine tradition and bond with the territory, with the objective to create a packaging able to communicate its heritage and story. The research involved the analysis of wine magazines and interviews of wine experts and wineries. All the collected data were used by the designers to create the storytelling behind the concept. Moreover, the design meets the technical requirements of the local wine producers.
