About Honki Factory Visual Identity

The concept is Opening the Path, The Honki Way. It defines Honki as Seriousness, as having a clear goal and taking concrete steps toward it. Those who master the structured approach to business development can use it to create new paths. The desire to foster many Honki individuals is represented in the H shaped frame, symbolizing structure, and the logotype, inspired by a factory, representing production. The variable design of the symbol and font reflects adaptability across all industries and fields.

Daichi Takizawa's Honki Factory Visual Identity exemplifies the sophisticated intersection of geometric abstraction and typographic innovation that characterizes contemporary brand design at its most accomplished, positioning itself within a lineage of industrial visual communication that traces through twentieth-century constructivist movements while speaking a distinctly contemporary visual language. The central emblem appears to engage with traditions of monogram design and abstract mark-making, transforming the foundational letterform into a multivalent symbol that suggests simultaneously a structural framework, an architectural aperture, and a mechanical component, this semantic richness enabling the mark to function across diverse applications while maintaining immediate recognizability. The chromatic selection demonstrates strategic understanding of color psychology and cultural semiotics, deploying vermillion red with its associations of energy, passion, determination, and forward momentum, qualities particularly resonant within manufacturing and production contexts where vitality and commitment communicate brand values without verbal explanation. Typographic choices reveal careful consideration of formal harmony, with the custom letterforms featuring angular modifications that create visual dialogue with the emblem above, establishing a cohesive design system rather than disparate elements, the notched "H" in particular serving as a miniature echo of the larger mark's vocabulary. Technical execution achieves a level of precision that communicates quality and professionalism, every curve and angle resolved with evident intentionality. The viewer might consider how this visual identity system balances universal clarity with distinctive character, achieving immediate comprehension while rewarding sustained attention with subtle formal relationships that reveal the depth of design thinking underlying apparent simplicity.

Unique Properties
The logo reflects the concept of a "Establishing entrepreneurship training centers" where various people, both corporate and individual, can learn about entrepreneurship and increase the number of people willing to take on challenges. The logo was inspired by the "frame" representing the shape of new businesses and the "factory" symbolizing production. The adaptable "H" shaped symbol mark and the variable design of the logotype express that the company can support any type of business.
Dimensions & Packaging
The visual design was created using Adobe Illustrator, and the corporate font was made with the font creation software Glyphs.

Production Technology
"Honki" means "Seriousness," and its passion and spirit of challenge are represented by the bold color red. Both the symbol mark and logotype have a variable design, showing that Honki Factory's services can adapt to any business size or industry. The symbol mark features an open door shape within the frame, symbolizing new opportunities for all companies.
Design Challenge
The biggest challenge was how to implement the newly created visual identity. The company's members are not designers, and the application they use most is PowerPoint. To make the VI easy to use, we created PowerPoint templates where users only need to replace text. We also predefined the corporate fonts and colors. Background images for video conferencing and business cards were designed to allow simple text updates, ensuring that anyone can effectively represent Honki Factory Co.,Ltd's corporate identity, regardless of their role.
Project Duration
This project started in June 2022 and was completed in March 2024.
Operation Flow
After changing the visual identity, despite having only about 10 employees, the company secured service agreements with over 30 major Japanese corporations within a year. This proves that the visual identity is effective and gives large companies a sense of trust and credibility.
Research
I focused on enhancing the quality of the details. The logo was carefully examined for aspect ratio, the thickness of vertical and horizontal strokes, and optical balance. For the corporate font, in addition to optical adjustments, each character's width and side spacing were precisely calculated. Over 500 test patterns were evaluated during this process. As a result, I won the Silver Award at the Graphis Design Awards 2025 (USA) and were featured in the Japan Typography Yearbook 2025, enhancing Honki Factory Co.,Ltd's brand value.
Inspiration
Honki Factory needed to update its visual identity to achieve its vision of "Establishing entrepreneurship training centers." The specific goals were to gain credibility from large corporations and to enhance the company's branding for recruitment. Therefore, a visual identity that represents the company's vision was essential.
