About Manzo Bedroom Furniture
Manzo is a bedroom furniture collection that includes a wide chest of drawers, a standard chest of drawers and a nightstand. The design is inspired by the interplay of light and shadow seen when sunlight passes through tree leaves. Two materials are combined so that each keeps its own character while supporting the whole. The bodies are made of plywood with a walnut veneer, which removes the need for edge banding. All curves are pressed in one mold, and the upper part is carved by CNC and finished with semi-matte polyurethane paint. The glass panel can be replaced if damaged.
Ballinco Design Team's Manzo Bedroom Furniture emerges from a design tradition that honors the mid-century modern movement's celebration of natural materials while embracing contemporary sensibilities toward softer, more embracing forms that resist the austerity sometimes associated with minimalist furniture design. The collection demonstrates a sophisticated understanding of how curved geometries can transform bedroom furniture from mere storage solutions into sculptural presences that contribute meaningfully to the atmosphere of intimate domestic spaces. Each piece within the ensemble maintains individual identity while participating in a cohesive visual language—the characteristic rounded corners, the consistent material palette, and the thoughtful proportional relationships suggest a design philosophy that values both unity and variety. The technical execution reveals considerable expertise in veneer application, with the wood grain carefully oriented to flow continuously around curved surfaces, creating an impression of monolithic carved volumes rather than assembled components. The integration of metal framing serves both structural and aesthetic purposes, providing visual definition while offering practical durability at points of greatest wear. Particularly noteworthy is the vanity table's resolution, where the glass surface appears to float between supporting elements, its circular mirror rising on a slender stem like a contemplative presence awaiting engagement. The inclusion of a human figure in motion introduces a vital phenomenological dimension, reminding viewers that furniture exists not as isolated object but as participant in the rhythms of daily inhabitation. One might consider how this collection navigates the contemporary desire for warmth and organic presence within spaces increasingly defined by digital technologies and artificial environments, offering a material counterpoint that grounds inhabitants in tactile reality.

- Production Technology
- The whole body of this product-set is made by Plywood. to emphasize the feeling of being natural and at the same time not needing to be edge-banding. All the bends can be made by the same plywood press mold, so that costs and optimal production methods are considered. Also, we considered the final layer of plywood to be a walnut veneer to create a more attractive finish. The upper part is created by CNC carving the curve and finally it is finished with a semi-matte polyurethane paint coating. And finally, the part where the glass is placed is designed so that it can be replaced in case of damage. Also, we considered the connections in such a way that the possibility of after-sales service can be performed in an optimal process.
- Design Challenge
- Attaching the glass to the painted plywood body in the design of the large Manzo drawer was one of the main challenges we faced in this project. We dedicated a significant amount of time to exploring and designing various details to achieve an ideal balance between aesthetics, functionality, and manufacturability. Each proposed solution was carefully evaluated from both a technical and aesthetic perspective. After testing and reviewing multiple options, we ultimately selected a design that not only addressed this challenge effectively but also met our design goals perfectly.
