About Quectel Global Center Office Block
Quectel Global Center is an office building located in Shanghai. The design combines internal office functions with public exhibition areas. The office floors face the riverside to gain open views. The facade uses fluid horizontal lines, aluminum panels and insulating glass curtain walls, forming a clean and modern visual identity. The interlocking, staggered layout creates stairs, terraces and rooftop gardens for informal interaction and rest. The ground floor is raised and open, forming a passage that links the building with the surrounding city.
Quectel Wireless Solutions Co., Ltd.'s Quectel Global Center Office Block emerges from contemporary architectural discourse surrounding parametric design and responsive corporate environments, demonstrating how advanced computational methodologies can generate forms that simultaneously convey technological innovation and organic naturalism. The structure's horizontal banding system, rendered in luminous white material that catches and redistributes available light, establishes a visual vocabulary that evokes both the transmission of electromagnetic signals and the fluid dynamics of natural phenomena such as wave propagation or stratified geological formations. This formal strategy positions the building within traditions established by architects exploring streamlined modernism while extending these precedents through sophisticated surface articulation that creates ever-changing visual effects as lighting conditions shift throughout the day. The curvilinear massing demonstrates remarkable restraint in its parametric expression, avoiding excessive formal gymnastics in favor of subtle undulations that create depth, shadow, and visual interest without compromising functional efficiency or structural rationality. The chromatic strategy proves particularly effective, with the warm interior illumination visible through extensive glazing creating dialogue with the cool twilight atmosphere and establishing the building as a beacon of activity within its context. The terra cotta-toned secondary structure introduces material warmth and historical reference that grounds the composition and suggests continuity with traditional building practices while celebrating contemporary innovation. The photographic documentation captures the structure at the blue hour threshold, when artificial and natural light achieve momentary equilibrium, revealing the architects' sophisticated understanding of how their design performs across temporal cycles. Viewers might contemplate how architectural form can embody organizational values of precision, connectivity, and forward-thinking vision while creating spaces that welcome human occupation and foster productive collaboration.

- Production Technology
- Externally, aluminum panels are finished with a PVDF coating, while insulating LOW E glass is fabricated using magnetron sputtering. Together, these materials not only enhance the weather resistance and thermal insulation of the building but also present a clean, modern aesthetic.
Internally, marble tiles, wood veneers, rectangular aluminum tubing, PVC flooring, and engineered quartz are widely applied, improving visual appeal while ensuring sustainability, durability, and moisture resistance. - Design Challenge
- The challenge was creating a spatial system that fosters internal connectivity while ensuring operational independence. The project addresses this through an approach of shared building and differentiated organization. A central elevator system provides access across all floors for core departments, while dedicated elevators for the management balance privacy with efficiency. This translates complex, competing requirements into a clear, flexible, and highly efficient spatial framework.
- Project Duration
- The project started in Shanghai in December 2021, with its groundbreaking ceremony held on May 18, 2023. It was completed on December 5, 2025, and entered service by the end of December 2025.
- Operation Flow
- The project creates a dual circulation system focused on efficiency and experience. The office areas are served by dedicated elevators for efficient personnel movement. The interlocking layout generates stairs, terraces, and rooftop gardens, offering spaces for informal interaction and relaxation. Moreover, the open raised ground floor acts as a transitional interface between the building and the city, effectively guiding foot traffic and fostering engagement between the company and the public.
- Research
- The project recognizes that corporate headquarters in urban cores must balance internal operational efficiency, external brand representation, and social public contribution. Based on rigorous site analysis, it adopts a strategy of separating dynamic and static zones while distinguishing internal and external functions. At the same time, it utilizes the raised ground floor and 3D greenery, transforming office spaces into an open complex that coexists harmoniously with the city and ecology.
- Inspiration
- Drawing inspiration from the corporate core philosophy of connecting everything, the project employs an interlocking, staggered layout, symbolizing both the close collaboration among internal teams and the deep integration between the company and the city. The facade features fluid horizontal lines that abstractly evoke the flow of information, echoing the essence of the telecommunications industry. Paired with transparent glass curtain walls, it creates a futuristic, high tech visual identity.
