About Sabbioni Branding Promotional Branding
Grafiche Sabbioni required a new brand position to celebrate the firm's 60th year anniversary. Salt&Pepper worked with the company to create modern visual languages to promote this important milestone, highlighting the brand’s capabilities in sustainability in the box and traditional print processes. Salt&Pepper created an energetic, robust, and positive branding system, creating a line of 100 percent sustainable, using water-based inks and minimal paper waste to promote the company's core values.
This refined ensemble of promotional materials exemplifies the contemporary approach to brand identity that privileges material authenticity and typographic clarity over ornamental excess. The collection appears to emerge from a design philosophy deeply rooted in sustainable practice, where the choice of uncoated kraft papers serves both ecological and aesthetic purposes, their natural fibrous surfaces becoming active participants in the visual communication rather than neutral substrates. The typographic treatment demonstrates particular sophistication in its handling of multilingual messaging, with the assertive "100% NATURALE" declaration balanced by its French counterpart in a smaller weight, creating subtle hierarchy while acknowledging international audiences. The designer seems to engage with the rich heritage of Swiss modernism while adapting its principles to contemporary concerns around environmental responsibility and tactile experience in an increasingly digital age. The coral and vermillion accents appearing on the publication spines suggest a calendar or seasonal organization system, their warm chromatic presence providing necessary visual punctuation within the predominantly neutral palette. One observes a careful calibration between bold graphic statements and understated material elegance, where the raw kraft surfaces communicate authenticity and the precise typography signals professional excellence. The inclusion of what appears to be an anniversary publication celebrating sixty years of typographic artistry positions this work within a longer lineage of printing heritage, suggesting an enterprise that honors craft traditions while embracing contemporary design sensibilities. The viewer might contemplate how such material choices in promotional design reflect broader cultural shifts toward transparency, sustainability, and the renewed appreciation for physical objects in an era of digital saturation.

- Letterpress, linotype printing, and modern digital programs were used to composite the final project. The outer box and agenda were printed on 100% recycled material in 2 Pantone colors and CMYK. The anniversary book was printed in 7 colors on FSC paper.
- Design Challenge
- Our research began with using letterpress and the linotype system to create experimental-type solutions. The major challenge was to create a 100% sustainable project that would work from box design to editorial, with minimal paper wastage and sustainable inks. These experiments were then developed digitally to create a contemporary feel.
