About Wacai Headquarters Office Building

Wacai Headquarters is an office building in Hangzhou, China, designed as a green and sustainable structure. The cylindrical form is oriented north to south and is interwoven with skyrise gardens. The shape brings natural light into the office spaces, which reduces the use of artificial lighting. Extensive landscaped areas across the site help to offset carbon emissions and to regulate the ambient temperature, lowering the reliance on climate control systems. The circular plan also uses fewer wall, floor and roof materials, giving a smaller ecological footprint.

Yin Seng Ng's Wacai Headquarters Office Building stands as a compelling exemplar of contemporary sustainable architecture, where the interplay between organic formal vocabulary and technological sophistication creates a distinctive addition to the discourse on ecological urbanism and biophilic workplace design. The building ensemble demonstrates remarkable compositional intelligence through its arrangement of cylindrical tower volumes that eschew the orthogonal conventions of commercial architecture in favor of curvilinear geometries that appear to have emerged organically from the landscape rather than being imposed upon it. The verdant rooftop gardens that crown each structure suggest a commitment to environmental integration, transforming what would conventionally be unutilized roof surfaces into elevated parklands that extend the surrounding natural systems vertically into the architectural composition. The extensive glazed facades employ a sophisticated curtain wall system that balances transparency with environmental performance, their curved surfaces creating ever-shifting reflective qualities that animate the building throughout the day as light conditions change. The interconnecting bridges and shared base podium elements create a sense of unified campus identity while allowing each tower to maintain its individual presence within the ensemble. The chromatic restraint of the architectural palette, dominated by the cool blue-green of glass and the warm green of vegetation, demonstrates a sensitive response to contextual integration, allowing the building to complement rather than compete with its natural surroundings. This work may be understood as participating in broader contemporary movements toward regenerative design and workplace wellness, where architecture serves not merely as shelter but as an active contributor to environmental and human health. The viewer might contemplate how such architectural approaches could reshape expectations for corporate environments, suggesting possibilities for workspace design that nurtures both ecological systems and human flourishing.

Production Technology
In order to create an original design, we boldly use the image of ancient Chinese coins that symbolize wealth and finance as the basis of vertical architectural design, and connect the public's Internet as a platform for our landscape design. The combination of these two elements creates a synergy between the interpersonal relationship and finance through the network.
Design Challenge
It was a challenge as the client have expectations of a modern building structure yet task the design team to base the concept to the company identity and the vicinity cultural and historical background. Though we manage to satisfied the client in the end with the ancient coins concept.
Project Duration
January 2018 to August 2018 in Hangzhou China
Operation Flow
The cylindrical shape of the building prevents strong winds from lifting the roof structure out of the building. There are dozens of interconnected points in the circular building. These connecting structural parts make the building have a unique combination of flexibility and strength quality, making it safer in bad weather conditions.
Circular buildings use fewer wall, floor and roof hence achieving a smaller ecological footprint and more living space at lower cost. In addition, the contact area of the building related to bad weather is reduced thus improving the hardness and energy efficiency.
Inspiration
The company is primarily make up of two main component:
1. Finance
2. Network
Thus our main design concept will revolved around these two main component which will give the urban landscape and company office building a unique identity.
Financial services are the basic components to the company's growth. While the rise of network in recent years provide a bigger platform for the company to connect with the masses. Thus when we integrate these highlights into our architectural design, they become the manifestication of our urban landscapes.
