About Wave Furniture
Wave is a furniture collection designed for living rooms and bedrooms. The Wave series includes bedside tables, storage cabinets, chests of drawers, television stands, coffee tables and console tables. Each piece is made of solid wood with a matte finish that shows the wood grain. The three dimensional wave texture is machined by CNC and gives visual depth. Rounded corners and a floating base form a fluid silhouette. Brushed brass handles are used, and doors and drawers run on soft close hinges. Bedside tables and television cabinets include built in power strips.
Ziel Home Furnishing Technology Co., Ltd's achievement in their Wave Furniture collection demonstrates a sophisticated understanding of how surface articulation can transform simple volumetric forms into visually compelling objects that reward sustained attention while maintaining functional clarity. These storage credenzas participate in a long design tradition that values the honest expression of materials, the discipline of geometric rigor, and the enrichment of surface through rhythmic patterning, suggesting affinities with mid-twentieth-century Scandinavian design principles that emphasized craftsmanship, natural materials, and restrained ornamentation as well as the rationalist furniture traditions that emerged from modernist reduction filtered through artisanal sensitivity. The vertical reeding applied to each rectangular volume serves multiple purposes simultaneously, creating tactile visual interest through the play of light and shadow within each groove, establishing a human scale reference through the fingertip-width dimension of individual reeds, suggesting traditional craft techniques while clearly being executed through contemporary precision manufacturing, and generating subtle optical effects through repetitive rhythm that activates the surface without overwhelming the fundamental volumetric clarity. The chromatic range from warm blonde natural wood through reddish amber mahogany tones to deep cool charcoal presents possibilities for diverse interior contexts while maintaining formal consistency through shared proportional systems and surface treatment vocabulary, each colorway offering distinct atmospheric contribution while the underlying design language remains constant. The brushed brass plinth bases and vertical pull handles provide essential counterpoint to the wood tones, their warm metallic luminosity catching ambient light and creating delicate linear accents that visually lighten the substantial volumes while offering intuitive interaction points for opening the storage compartments. The horizontal emphasis of each credenza, with length significantly exceeding height and depth, creates a contemporary low-slung profile appropriate to current interior preferences while the vertical reeding prevents visual monotony across extended horizontal surfaces, the directional linearity paradoxically reinforcing horizontal flow through repetitive rhythm rather than contradicting it. This marriage of functional furniture typology with sculptural formal sensibility elevates everyday storage cabinetry into objects worthy of aesthetic contemplation, suggesting that utility and beauty need not occupy separate domains but can be integrated through thoughtful design that respects both practical requirements and visual refinement. The precision evident in the consistent spacing and depth of the fluting, the crisp geometric intersections, and the meticulous finish work speaks to manufacturing excellence and quality material selection, qualities increasingly valued as contemporary consumers seek furnishings that demonstrate durability and craft integrity rather than disposable expedience. The modular nature of the system, suggested by the presentation of multiple units in varied finishes, offers flexibility for diverse spatial configurations and personal aesthetic preferences while maintaining design coherence through shared formal DNA, a practical consideration that extends the collection's applicability across varied residential and commercial contexts. One might observe how these credenzas navigate between opposing qualities with grace: substantial yet visually light through brass elevation, geometrically rigorous yet texturally rich, individually distinctive yet collectively harmonious, contemporary yet referencing design heritage, functional storage yet sculptural presence, inviting viewers to consider how everyday furnishings can participate in broader conversations about material culture, aesthetic value, and the objects we choose to inhabit our daily environments.

- Production Technology
- The wave series features natural solid wood construction with a matte finish that highlights the wood grain, presenting a sleek and organic silhouette. The wave texture is cnc-machined, with groove depth and spacing capable of mass production. The bedside table and TV cabinet feature in built power strips to meet daily electrical needs. The coffee table features adjustable height functionality to accommodate users' lifestyle needs.
- Design Challenge
- This series adopts wave curved panels as the core design for a full scenario furniture system covering living rooms and bedrooms. It faces challenges in maintaining unified visual language across nightstands, storage cabinets, chests of drawers, TV stands, coffee tables and console tables, while balancing aesthetics, structural strength and manufacturability. We need to solve precision forming, stable assembly and safety of curved panels, and balance ergonomics, space adaptability and mass production, achieving a balance between design innovation, engineering realization and standardized production.
- Project Duration
- The project commenced in shenzhen in June 2025 and was completed in shenzhen in February 2026.
- Operation Flow
- Cabinet doors and drawers are equipped with soft close hinges and glide smooth tracks, allowing for effortless opening and closing with a gentle push or pull. Vertical patterned wave cabinet bodies are ideal for tiered storage. Utilize the visual extension effect of the pattern to place frequently used items in the middle tier and less frequently used items in the upper/lower tiers, ensuring easy access. The back panel typically features cut pre cable openings, allowing power cords, HDMI cables, and other wires to be routed through these openings and concealed within the cabinet, creating a cleaner, more organized space.
- Research
- This research uses wave shaped panels as the core design to build an integrated furniture system for living rooms and bedrooms, including nightstands, storage cabinets, chest of drawers, TV stands, coffee tables and console tables. Featuring unified curved design, modular structure and standardized sizes, it ensures aesthetic consistency and functional adaptability, optimizes spatial layout and storage efficiency, offers practical and artistic solutions for modern households, and explores the application of curved aesthetics in whole house customization.
- Inspiration
- The wave collection draws inspiration from the fusion of nature and modern aesthetics, capturing the undulating textures of sand dunes and the rippling patterns of ocean waves. It infuses fluid curves into the furniture space, breaking away from the monotony of traditional flat panel designs to introduce a gentle rhythm to comfortable living environments.
