About Wavee Multifunctional Toothbrush
The Wavee works double duty in the bathroom through a seamless integration of two devices that perform necessary functions within a person's daily routine. The first is an electric toothbrush providing teeth cleaning through a 3-speed motor and sonic wave brushhead, the second is an accompanying water-resistant speaker with a built in charging base for the brush. From its lightweight design to its custom toothbrush and wall mount option, Wavee is designed with an attention to detail that makes it easy to use in any bathroom setting.
Ahmet Burak Veyisoglu's Wavee Multifunctional Toothbrush represents a distinguished contribution to the evolving landscape of personal care product design, embodying principles of functional integration and material refinement that characterize the most accomplished contemporary industrial design. The work demonstrates sophisticated understanding of how everyday objects communicate quality, reliability, and technological advancement through careful orchestration of form, finish, and proportion. The designer's decision to employ a restrained palette of cool neutrals punctuated by warm metallic accents suggests awareness of current trends in premium consumer electronics and luxury bathroom accessories, positioning oral care within an elevated aesthetic context traditionally reserved for high-end audio equipment or boutique cosmetic devices. Technical accomplishment manifests in the seamless integration of the perforated mesh surface, which simultaneously suggests functional ventilation for hygiene purposes while introducing visual texture that enlivens the otherwise minimalist cylindrical form. The proportional relationship between the slender toothbrush and its substantial base station creates satisfying visual weight distribution, anchoring the composition while allowing the primary instrument to achieve prominence through vertical extension. Material choices appear deliberate and harmonious, with matte surfaces absorbing light to create sophisticated tonal gradations while the metallic trim introduces controlled moments of luminosity that catch the eye without overwhelming the composition's quiet authority. This work invites consideration of how design transforms mundane daily rituals into experiences of aesthetic pleasure, suggesting that beauty and functionality need not exist in opposition but may enhance one another through thoughtful creative intervention.

- Production Technology
- The body of the toothbrush is made of ABS plastic. The speaker grille is made of stainless steel to improve the durability. The toothbrush can be charged via wireless charging technology. The motor inside the toothbrush can provide up to 48000 rpm power. The output power for the speaker is 25 W. The device has IPX 5 water-resistance to avoid water splashes and shower steam.
- Design Challenge
- The product is a combination of two individual devices: a toothbrush and a speaker system. Each device is used individually so they should have a certain design style when they are being used by the user. On the other hand, when the toothbrush is parked on the speaker, the set should look complete. The hardest part of the project was to create a complete design style while preserving the individual aspects and characteristics of each product.
- Project Duration
- Project started in April 2019 and finished in February 2020 in Hong Kong.
- Operation Flow
- The toothbrush can be controlled by a single button which cycles through different vibration patterns. The sound system has various buttons on top to control the bluetooth connectivity, to increase/decrease the volume level and to switch between different modes. The user can connect the speaker by mobile phone to control the music streaming.
- Research
- According to the research the average time that both men and women spend in the bathroom every day is at least 30 minutes. Based on the interviews with the participants, the first 10 minutes of their morning routine can dictate the rest of the day. Studies showed that listening to music has numerous benefits - including improving the overall mood, lowered stress levels, increased productivity and strengthening brain skills like learning and memory.
- Inspiration
- Wavee offers two functions in the same body: an electric toothbrush and a bluetooth speaker. The main inspiration in this project is to add music to the users' daily routines starting from the bathroom. The product would also fit perfectly to the houses with limited space.
