About Wood Table Lamp

The Wood luminaire was designed in 2017 with the clear intention of being different from what was seen on the market then. It refers to and is inspired by the classic designs of the 60s. It is made entirely of solid wood and turned by hand, a material that transmits warmth and thanks to its nobility it has a distinguished quality and presentation. Design with simple and clean lines, where the cable that breaks with a paradigm stands out, not only because it comes out of the top of the product but also because it is an exclusive design cable with jute mesh and details of golden lurex threads.

Magali Suchowolski's Wood Table Lamp emerges from a distinguished lineage of design practice that honors the transformative potential of natural materials shaped through time-honored craft techniques, positioning itself within the broader contemporary movement toward sustainable, materially authentic objects that enrich domestic environments through their inherent beauty and thoughtful construction. The work demonstrates exceptional command of woodturning as both technical discipline and expressive medium, with the precisely calibrated relationships between the generous base dish, elegantly tapered stem, and commanding drum shade revealing a sophisticated understanding of proportion, visual weight, and functional requirement integrated into unified sculptural form. The maker's selection of what appears to be quality maple or similar light-toned hardwood proves particularly astute, as this material's characteristic cathedral grain patterns—those flowing, wave-like figures created by the intersection of growth rings with the turned surface—animate what might otherwise read as simple geometric volumes, transforming functional components into meditations on natural process and organic beauty. Technical accomplishment manifests throughout: the shade's walls achieve remarkable thinness that would allow warm light transmission while maintaining structural integrity, the stem's taper exhibits the confident precision of experienced handcraft, and the base dish's subtle concavity creates both visual interest and practical utility for cord management. The integration of the braided natural fiber cord represents a particularly thoughtful design decision, its warm ochre and cream tones harmonizing with the wood palette while its organic texture and dynamic draping introduce welcome contrast to the lamp's otherwise architectural precision, transforming a necessary functional element into an aesthetic asset that reinforces the work's artisanal character. One might consider how this object invites us to reconsider our relationship with domestic lighting—not merely as utilitarian necessity but as opportunity for material contemplation, for the presence of nature's patient growth translated through skilled hands into objects that illuminate our spaces in multiple senses of that resonant word.

Production Technology
Luminaire made with a manual wood turning.
It is done in three parts, to avoid waste.
Zoita wood was chosen, an easy wood to obtain in our country, semi hard, which has an excellent weight and quality ratio.
Design Challenge
The shape is too complex for anyone to want to produce.
Intimidated.
But it was such an innovative product that we managed to produce it, and it continues to be one of the brand's favorite products today.
Project Duration
The design was made in 2017 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
And it took almost a year to be able to do it.
It started selling in 2018.
Operation Flow
The Wood product is a table lamp made of wood, a noble material that provides decorative lighting.

Its material and lighting accompanies, relaxes and creates climates in the environment.
Research
The current design is exactly as projected.
Originally it was devised in a single piece, which was not possible due to the waste it proposed, and various types of wood have been tried until deciding which was the correct one.
The product has a very complex shape to turn and that is why it took a long time to develop until it reached the final product.
In 2019 the Mini Wood was launched, to complement it.
Inspiration
It has sought to design a product with the clear intention of being different from what was seen then in the lighting market.
The inspiration was the classic designs of the 60s.
The material was also key at the beginning of the project. Wood is a strong point of the brand and should be the protagonist.
It seeks to always be at the leading edge of lighting.
Setting trends in materials, finishes and colors.
Prioritizing giving the customer a top quality product at an electrical and aesthetic level.
