Indlu Yabazali iyindawo yokuhlala esesiqhingini i-Amami-Oshima, indawo enesimo sezulu esishisayo esimaphakathi kwe-subtropical nezivunguvungu ezijwayelekile. Uphahla olukhulu olusayilekthango lusekelwe uhlaka lwensimbi olunobude beminyaka emine yamamitha. Uphahla ludala ingaphakathi elipholile nelinomthunzi, elifana nesikhala esingaphansi kwezihlahla ezinkulu. Izindonga zesamende zimi ngokuzimela ohlakeni lophahla, ngakho-ke uhlelo lwasephansi alunazo izithikamezo ezibangelwa izinsika. Izindonga zesamende eziphumela ngaphandle zelula izindawo ezisetshenziswa yizo zonke zabheka ngaphandle ngokombukwana wesiqhingi esizungezile.

Unique Properties: This house for parents located on Amami Island where is severe subtropical climate and often hit by typhoon. To tackle this climate, we install a large roof supported by 4 meter-span steel framework structure for a cool and shady environment as if it is a space under trees. Concrete walls are designed to stand independently to achieve a plan that is free from structure for the roof. The common areas are made to expend outwards with the projecting concrete walls as if it continues boundlessly.
Inspiration: As a traditional daily custom in this island, people gather and stay under the shadow of large trees. We aimed to create architecture that celebrate the culture of the region and lead to re-emerge the spirit of the traditional life in the island.
The space under the large roof which is supported by thin steel columns provide shady and cool comfortable interior that suite sever climate in the southern island.
