About Ryo 扶手椅

Ryo係一張以單一連續形態塑造嘅扶手椅。起伏嘅曲線由座位延伸至椅背，形成一個不間斷嘅環狀迴路。呢個設計源於一個問題：一件常見嘅家具可唔可以採用更自由嘅形態？呢個複雜嘅三維曲面喺製作上相當困難，最終透過使用彈性布料先至得以實現。扶手椅闊725毫米、深730毫米、高800毫米。彎曲嘅殼體包裹住坐喺上面嘅人，同時為空間增添咗一份雕塑感。

Unique Properties: From the seat to back, the undulations creates an uninterrupted loop.

Production Technology: Creating the shape of the tertiary surface proved extremely challenging. It was achieved by employing stretch fabric.
Design Challenge: Expressing the form of the cubic surface and realising it while utilising the engineers' skills proved extremely challenging. Through repeated discussions, we continued to seek the correct solution until completion was achieved.
Inspiration: This project began with the question: could we express the commonplace piece of furniture that is the armchair in a freer form? The idea expanded from the seat to back, the undulations creates an uninterrupted loop.

Project Duration: The project started in Apr. 2020 in Tokyo and finished in Jan. 2021 in Tokyo, and was exhibited in Salone del Mobile in June 2022.
Operation Flow: This unique chair, which adorns the space, envelops those who sit upon it. It promises an experience unlike any other.
