Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?
My design background is more on technical aspect. To be a designer/Artist is the approach in getting my idea to push thru and be realized.
Can you tell us more about your company / design studio?
The design studio/company is more on personal ideas gathered to be realized as every person have their preferences.
What is "design" for you?
Design would be perfecting the product as it should be considering individual's approach, method relating to his/her discipline and evaluation of the final outcome.
What kinds of works do you like designing most?
Preferably interesting works but deals more related to human needs, and applying better form, and relate to their functions. Seats and tables would suit well presently.
What was the first thing you designed for a company?
Seats and seating solution but together with colleagues. Marina bay sands projects.
When do you feel the most creative?
Its when you have the idea but needs to execute it. So its in the process of doing.
What kind of emotions do you feel when you design?
For that one i would describe as feeling tense but happy and excited. But mostly it depends on what you are designing. Well, it's probably due to tight deadline and too much coffee.
What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized?
Appreciative and rewarding at times. But mostly thankful to the person I've worked who did contribute in realizing the design.
What makes a design successful?
A design would be successful if, you share the same vision with the end user. So its more on the initial stage reaching the end users requirement.
When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first?
I consider more on its function, materials and approach in realizing the design. Adding the aesthetic concept would require as well.
From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment?
The responsibilities of a designer is to initiate the task of getting the needs of the society heard while considering less impact towards the environment.
How do you think the "design field" is evolving? What is the future of design?
It would be evolving in a way as prototype is more accessible and ideas are realized easily. Overall, Design is evolving as humans and organic lifeforms are evolving also.
How would you describe your design style? What made you explore more this style and what are the main characteristics of your style? What's your approach to design?
Design style and approach is more towards the feeling of the person which relates to his satisfaction. The approach reflects the designers experiences which sums up to data gathering.
Where do you live? Do you feel the cultural heritage of your country affects your designs? What are the pros and cons during designing as a result of living in your country?
Currently I am staying in KL but my hometown is in Cebu, Philippines. My cultural heritage which is the country I grew up does affects the design and the way we think as it brings memories which does reflect on the design. Available materials differ also in most countries.
What are your suggestions to companies for working with a designer? How can companies select a good designer?
Mostly it would be to see the capabilities of the designer and be able to uplift his talents and skills. Another thing is to be able to execute well which relates to a group and workmates.
Can you talk a little about your design process?
Design process would be, identify the need applicable for the society, conceptualize the idea, proving the concept, finalize the design and evaluate.
What are 5 of your favorite design items at home?
My shoulder bag, wooden chair, dining table, mist fan, lastly my bed.
Can you describe a day in your life?
Attend morning meeting, find task to complete in my desk. Do 3D cad analysis/ technical solution.. its pretty much exciting.

Could you please tell us about your experience as a designer, artist, architect or creator?
I have been in the design industry for 7 years which I am presently working, and had experiences in manufacturing for 5 years. I have indirectly worked with architectural seating designers also.
How did you become a designer?
Designing started having a mechanical background and the previous experiences. Contributing ideas and solution had started whereby a design can change the way a product is processed or planned to start off. Engineering easily can support a lot of design aspects.
What are your priorities, technique and style when designing?
Certain techniques would be keeping in mind the ideal objective of the design and making sure functionality as a user would be considered.
Which emotions do you feel when designing?
Having known each design as a new product and a potential benefit for the user, it would be a good sense of feel and excitement upon able to complete the design.
What particular aspects of your background shaped you as a designer?
Particular aspect would be actual hands-on experiences which would be able to contribute certain knowledge.
What is your growth path? What are your future plans? What is your dream design project?
On Plans and future growth, this would be more related what you are good at and able to focus on it. Collaboration with other designers to have a great product would be a good plan.
What are your advices to designers who are at the beginning of their career?
Design relates to a persons interest and way of handling things. Certain obstacles you face where you have a plan would also relate to everyday design as solutions.
You are truly successful as a designer, what do you suggest to fellow designers, artists and architects?
Design starts from ideas and everyday encounter of problems where you want to improve. Challenging yourself to work on and get up everyday is another thing you need to be thankful for.

Currently I am working in a seating company where its also an exciting environment and facing new customization everyday. There will be no boring business days when you
How do you keep up with latest design trends? To what extent do design trends matter?
Certain People would tend to adopt to new modern design, Aesthetically it does give a different feel to the product and have a different approach on users.
How do you know if a product or project is well designed? How do you define good design?
A product can be rated as a good design, when small details are also look into which it can be internally and not visible. Also, a lot of factors are considered such as durability and reliability of using the product.
How do you decide if your design is ready?
A design can be decided as ready when a few important factors are considered, such as possible failures and its impact and safety. Overall its functionality is also reviewed as it differentiates from other design in comparison to your ideal objectives if you are able to meet them.
