About Migle Vasiliauskaite Kotryna Zilinskiene

PRIM PRIM is a visual communication design studio with a strong imaginative goal to create authentic designs where concept, visuality and aesthetics match all together. The key aspect of our style is a minimalistic attitude to graphics – a clean, light, a bit ascetic and logical design. In our environment there is a lot of noise of visual media, so we want to bring some more cleanness and order to life. Our creative path is also very much influenced by our country Lithuania, actually, even few of our projects are based on ethnic lithuanian-baltic culture. We tend to experiment combining fresh and "up to date" design with more archaic content and forms, but even then we still remain faithful to our aesthetic ideals.

Interview with Migle Vasiliauskaite Kotryna Zilinskiene

Can you tell us more about your company / design studio?
Two creative heads debating and in this way finding the best solutions.
What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it?
Our favorite design is always the newest and freshest one. The last one favorite is Taste the Font, because we created it for ourselves with a big inspiration and eagerness. Now it has traveled all around the world with a help of dozens design portals.
When do you feel the most creative?
Riding the bicycle, in washroom, before falling asleep, in the forest, having a glass of vine...
What makes a design successful?
Us! Team debate, bloody battle when brainstorming. We are always faithful to our aesthetic ideals.
Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations?
Sometimes we feed creativity with vine, sometimes ideas just fall from the sky and sometimes we notice that inspiration was just lying in front of our noses for a long time.
How would you describe your design style? What made you explore more this style and what are the main characteristics of your style? What's your approach to design?
Clean, light, ascetic, logical. In our environment there is a lot of noise of visual media, so we want to bring some more cleanness and order to life.
Where do you live? Do you feel the cultural heritage of your country affects your designs? What are the pros and cons during designing as a result of living in your country?
Our country Lithuania affects us a lot. Actually even few of our projects were based on our ethnic lithuanian-baltic culture. http://www.primprim.lt/13769/1401996/galerija-gallery/saka http://www.primprim.lt/13769/1378351/galerija-gallery/font-balta http://www.primprim.lt/13769/352671/galerija-gallery/expo-2012-yeosu-korea
What are your suggestions to companies for working with a designer? How can companies select a good designer?
Respect your designer and don't ask him to work for free. Trust him and then the result will be satisfying.
From your perspective, what would you say are some positives and negatives of being a designer?
Positives: we are paid for living our life as in continuous art classes. Negatives: we buy books by the cover design not the contents. We buy food by its package and not the taste.
What is the most frequently asked question to you, as a designer?
Are you a fashion designer? Are you an interior designer? Are you furniture designer? No? Then who?
