Cristina Menezes Architecture is a studio founded in 1990 in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, by architect Cristina Menezes. The studio develops architectural design and interior design of houses, shops, restaurants, shows, offices, hotels and schools in Brazil , Europe and USA. The studio has won several national and international awards. Some projects were published in magazines and books around the world.

Extended Interview with Cristina Menezes

Could you please tell us about your experience as a designer, artist, architect or creator?
Since I was teenager, I used to draw and paint in my spare time! Design is my oldest obssession! I studied Architecture and Urbanism in Belo Horioznte, Minas Gerais, Brazil . And I begun to work with architecture when I was student and I never stop ! It is a pleasure for me! My work is my job!
How did you become a designer?
As I said, above, my love for design begun when I was young. It is in my soul!
Which emotions do you feel when designing?
Most o f time, I design Residential; Commercial and Institutional Architecture. Sometimes, I design furniture, too!
What is your growth path? What are your future plans? What is your dream design project?
A good designer is when a designer do a good job! A great designer is when a designer do a job with his soul!
What are your advices to designers who are at the beginning of their career?
When you have the functionality, form, aesthetics, art and innovation, all together!
You are truly successful as a designer, what do you suggest to fellow designers, artists and architects?
The value is the eternity of the design! Because all design must be eternal!
How do you decide if your design is ready?
There are a lot of designers that I get some inspirations like Le Corbusier, Niemeyer, Paulo Mendes da Rocha, Foster and Renzo Piano!
Who is your favourite designer?
I do not have one... I think I have some designs, like the Pocket House, Glass House, etc, that are great designs because they are timeless!
Would you tell us a bit about your lifestyle and culture?
They must have to study, read and travel to see what is happening around the people and world!
What are your philanthropic contributions to society as a designer, artist and architect?
Design is when you have the functionality, form, aesthetics, art and innovation, all together in a project!
