Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?
My dream is to create beautiful space since I like the combination of spatial design and aesthetics.
Can you tell us more about your company / design studio?
S.L. SPACE DESIGN was founded in 2000 with commitment in building beautiful space.
What kinds of works do you like designing most?
My expertise is the design of space with large room and my first published work is a case of renovation on old house.
Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing?
In the design process, I care the most about the excellent interaction with clients and project details.
From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment?
As a designer, I expect myself to maintain the mission of being a forerunner and inspiration for others, and I work hard to bring hope of happiness to people.
How do you think the "design field" is evolving? What is the future of design?
I think that the development of future design will feature more natural, close-to-life and humanistic sentiment and warmth.
Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations?
My inspiration often comes from the structural characteristics of the space and the clients’ requirement.
How would you describe your design style? What made you explore more this style and what are the main characteristics of your style? What's your approach to design?
My works are designed with simplicity with the biggest future in a pressure-free space with naturally perfect lines.
What are your suggestions to companies for working with a designer? How can companies select a good designer?
I believe that the clients must know what they need first before helping the designer more clearly master the look and function to be presented by the space.
Can you talk a little about your design process?
My design process usually involves with full communication and understanding of clients’ needs, followed by designing the current and future vital functions, before implementing design integrity, in addition to paying attention to the details of project procedure.
Could you please share some pearls of wisdom for young designers? What are your suggestions to young, up and coming designers?
I would like to suggest young designers to reduce decorative articles in design and add more functional elements. Hidden designs are better than explicit display design.
What skills are most important for a designer?
Designers need to hold the attitude of continuous learning in life.
Designing can sometimes be a really time consuming task, how do you manage your time?
For design work consuming most time, I will carefully allocate works with priority for best time management.
What type of design work do you enjoy the most and why?
Residential or commercial space with large rooms is my most favorable type of spatial design.
What are your future plans? What is next for you?
I will not stop learning and pace to pursue knowledge after winning the awards. I will make more efforts to complete the space commissioned by every client.
