Interview with Massimo Facchinetti

Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?
It is the curiosity that, as a child, has led me to understand how various arts have been built. My cultural activity and my undergraduate studies in industrial design have pushed me in the direction of my profession.
Can you tell us more about your company / design studio?
In 1994 establish the design firm “DISEGNO”, that will become, in 1997, the company Massimo Facchinetti designer by Prototipi s.a.s., being interested in industrial consultancy and realisation of projects in the field of design. The study deals with 360° Design : from pin to car. Useful Design: pursue the Italian tradition to get utility in the product. Environmental design: pursue the integration between artefacts and context micro and macro environmental, using in the right way colors and materials. Design For All: always give the right consideration the final user, endorsing the positive aspects of the concept of customization, for a suitable product for all without distinction. Eco-friendly Design: decarbosination of the product / service, with the goal of the complete quality and of the energetic benefit in the global process.
What is your favorite material / platform / technology?
The use of modelable materials that can be accommodated in any form, by molding
Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing?
The form that can communicate the use, which can express what is the object
When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first?
It must be first of all useful, be feasible and finally combine functionality and design
From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment?
Responsibility to respect the environment. No, too easy ... I always say that I want to design in total quality
When was your last exhibition and where was it? And when do you want to hold your next exhibition?
The last exhibition of my projects was held in the MACS 2013 exhibition, held in Milan, in the Tortona area
How do you work with companies?
It is difficult to relate to our work and, therefore, to represent our competences
What are your suggestions to companies for working with a designer? How can companies select a good designer?
To believe more in designers and their skills, to accept the challenge to the new
From your perspective, what would you say are some positives and negatives of being a designer?
The positive side is that it is a good job. Negative: it's a little remunerated
What was your most important job experience?
The project of a vertical rotating kitchen, presents at the Salone del Mobile in Milan

I have collaborated with international and national companies of the caliber of Ares, Athena, Biffi Luce, Clei, Elitable, Foppapedretti, Global radiatori, HMR Helmets, ICI caldaie, IdealLux, Rolfo, Martini Illuminazione

Could you please tell us about your experience as a designer, artist, architect or creator?
He obtained his certificate in geometry in 1984 at the institute for geometries "G. Quarenghi "in Bergamo. In October 1992 he graduated from the Faculty of Architecture of the Politecnico di Milano with an environmental design thesis entitled "La strada del freddo", followed by Professor Alessandro Ubertazzi, Professor Giuseppe Gambirasio and Architect Pierguido Bay
What are your advices to designers who are at the beginning of their career?
With a good relationship between the realization capacity, the costs and the benefits
You are truly successful as a designer, what do you suggest to fellow designers, artists and architects?
The value of a good design is the "added value", so something more than normal
Who is your favourite designer?
The vertical kitchen presented at the Milan Furniture Show, because the relationship with the customer was complex
