Interview with Zhejiang Sci-Tech University

Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?
Chinese painting is a well-known art, but Chinese design is not. Many years ago, after I came into contact with industrial design in high school, I decided to abandon art and turn to design
What is "design" for you?
Design is one of the ways to reorganize all kinds of information. Designers express their understanding of objects, spaces, and people by organizing information. This process is not about expressing extreme artistic self or pursuing the ultimate in technology, but integrating more. The value proposition is then expressed as a process of user thinking.
What is your favorite material / platform / technology?
There is no favorite, as long as it is beneficial to the design, I will like it
When do you feel the most creative?
When not working, such as walking on the street or climbing a mountain
What makes a design successful?
Too many factors. There are both designer’s creativity and technological progress
When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first?
Innovation.Does this design have some unique ideas of the designer?
When was your last exhibition and where was it? And when do you want to hold your next exhibition?
We have been exhibiting in Shenzhen for 2 years, and the next exhibition should be in Shenzhen
Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations?
I like to look at a lot of things, not just professional fields. In the past few years, my design inspiration has come more from the small details in the living environment, the insight into small things, and the state of human behavior.
Where do you live? Do you feel the cultural heritage of your country affects your designs? What are the pros and cons during designing as a result of living in your country?
I am in Hangzhou, a typical humanistic city in China, with a long history and beautiful scenery. In the past few years, I have practiced the combination of traditional cultural genes and modern lifestyles in a large number of projects. Through analyzing the local humanities, nature, political and social environment, In the regional understanding and application, a better solution was found.
From your perspective, what would you say are some positives and negatives of being a designer?
Positive: Do well and have a high level of cognition Negative: easy to fall into the trap of false life packaging, excessive pursuit of positioning, and loss of thinking ability
Which tools do you use during design? What is inside your toolbox? Such as software, application, hardware, books, sources of inspiration etc.?
Hand Painted.Painting is not whether the plan at this stage is good or not, but more important is the process of growth and accumulation.Hand drawing is also the most convenient.
Designing can sometimes be a really time consuming task, how do you manage your time?
Make good use of time fragments, don’t try to test your mind, study at any time, rest at any time, work at any time, and grasp the fleeting inspiration.
What was your most important job experience?
Enterprise. I have been in the enterprise for 7 years. I know the state of Chinese enterprises so much that I can easily get the recognition of the enterprise when I do design communication problems with different enterprises, because I will look at the problem from the other side’s point of view. , This is necessary.
Who are some of your clients?
Our main customers are enterprises, mainly furniture products, and some end consumers
How can people contact you?

Extended Interview with Zhejiang Sci-Tech University

Could you please tell us about your experience as a designer, artist, architect or creator?
Industrial Design, Art & Design Academy, Zhejiang Sci-Tech University
What are your priorities, technique and style when designing?
choose. Design is a very interesting job, we can create new things everyday
Which emotions do you feel when designing?
We will focus more on social issues, disadvantaged groups, environmental protection, sustainable development and other issues for a long time, and conduct corresponding research and product development.
What is your growth path? What are your future plans? What is your dream design project?
I think the difference between a great designer and an good designer lies in the difference in the depth and breadth of the link between the individual and the world. Great designers have a more ambitious human perspective, and good designers can only perceive issues of general meaning such as consumption.
What are your advices to designers who are at the beginning of their career?
We believe that a design that can surpass the meaning of the product itself is superior to general product creativity. Such products are often full of spiritual connotations. This is the element we are most concerned about.
You are truly successful as a designer, what do you suggest to fellow designers, artists and architects?
Good design is educational. It can make it easier for people to gain dignity and independence in the sense of action.
What is your day to day look like?
If I have time, I am more willing to do what I can for people in poverty-stricken areas, children, and old people.
How do you know if a product or project is well designed? How do you define good design?
I personally think that the secret of design success lies in dissatisfaction with the status quo, questioning the problem, and continuous understanding of the essence.
