About Smart wall Residential House

Smart wall is a residential interior design project carried out in Changsha. Two inclined walls with folding lines narrow the view of a relatively large stairway and screen the dining area, leading guests directly to the living room on the left. A partition wall was added between the hallway and the dining area, and the stairway direction was turned to the left. The existing aisle was renovated to widen the projection wall in the basement, so the viewing distance became normal. The result is a clearer layout with improved circulation and several functions.

Design Challenge
We met the first design challenge at the hallway. The existed hallway was straightly open to the dining area, a relatively private area. The living room, a relatively public area, is on the left of the hallway with some height difference. And the second challenge we met was the dining area almost surrounded by aisles with no complete wall. The basement seemed not practicable to build a audio-visual hall on the existed left part as it was a too long space to make projection on the wall, and the width was not suitable either.
Project Duration
The project started in April 2018 and finished in December 2019 in Changsha.
Inspiration
The existed hallway was straightly open to the dining area, a relatively private area. The living room, a relatively public area, is on the left of the hallway with some height difference. Thus, a stairway with several steps was set between the two. The left of basement seemed not practicable to build a audio-visual hall on the existed left part as it was a too long space to make projection on the wall, and the width was not suitable either.
