About GTR and Teleport Office
GTR and Teleport is a co-working space located in an old airport terminal in Sepang, Selangor. The interior serves two companies under one roof, and a tunnel-like entrance made of stacked panels leads into each workspace. Aviation themes guide the design. Airplane turbines are reused as seating in the waiting area, and the bar top is shaped like a wing. A lit walkway acts as a runway that guides movement through the space. Iron plates, rivets, concrete paint and concrete flooring recall the old terminal, while orange tones and lighting add warmth.

Grand Interview
Your transformation of the old airport terminal into GTR and Teleport Office brilliantly preserves aviation heritage - could you elaborate on how the airplane turbines, wings, and runway elements were reimagined to create meaningful workspaces while honoring the building's history?
Those aviation element with curved, industrial design evokes a sense of motion and innovation, reflecting the terminal's aviation history while fostering creativity and collaboration. We hope the design choices ensure the space feels vibrant and contemporary while paying homage to the history and spirit of the site. Each element not only tells a story but also inspires those who work there, creating a unique blend of past and future.
The lighting design in GTR and Teleport Office, particularly the runway-inspired light strips, creates a powerful sense of momentum - what inspired this innovative approach to using illumination as a tool for enhancing workplace efficiency and motivation?
We wanted to create a guide movement through the office, echoing the terminal’s role in directing journeys. Lighting inspired by runway edge lights might add a subtle, atmospheric connection to the building's past.
The perforated panels dividing GTR and Teleport Office's workspace and recreation areas strike an intriguing balance between openness and privacy - could you share your design thinking behind this architectural solution and its impact on workplace dynamics?
Perforated panels offer a visual connection between spaces, maintaining a sense of openness while subtly defining different zones. Clear yet permeable divisions create distinct zones for work and recreation, encouraging employees to engage in both productivity and relaxation without one encroaching on the other. The design of the perforations could subtly reference aviation motifs and symbols. This ties the panels to the building's heritage, reinforcing its narrative.

- Unique Properties
- The co-working space for GTR (Ground Team Red) and Teleport is located here at an old airport terminal. The fantastic experience begins at the moment when one walks in. Behind the reception counter where the existing window is, there is always a good view of plane taking-off and landing from time to time at the new airport in the distance. With this subtle backdrop, it helps to focus on the entrances of the two different companies under one roof.
- Dimensions & Packaging
- When walk around the space on the runway under the light strips, it encourages people to move forward as if a plane is taking-off. This clear directional track is the emotional intention to increase velocity and to gather momentum with high efficiency at work.

- Production Technology
- The overall colors in the workspace are rather dim with an industrial look, so the designers play with lighting and vibrant orange to raise the spirits in the design. To strike a balance in the overall setting, the project also use iron plates, rivets, concrete paint, and concrete flooring to enhance this old terminal space. For both the entrances for two companies, the designers stack multiple layers of panels to form a tunnel-like architrave that leads into each workspace. With a perfect combination of form and colors, the young aspirations can be felt.
- Design Challenge
- ELTO cares on how to inspire people and help them to find the joy at work. The designers transform the airplane turbines into a seating at the waiting area, and the designers also make the bar top with a wing shape. The large platform in the middle of recreation area is served as a casual hang-out place and also a stage for media conference events. The huge wing art installation on top of the platform has become a signature landmark. These plane features serve as the medium for functional and emotional connection, as well as being the essence of the entire workspace.
- Research
- This office design emphasizes on the harmony between human and the environment. A place where people could socialize freely and stimulate wild and big thinking, reflects the core value in our design. The designers fulfill the young people's needs for a workspace that is interesting and imaginative, an efficient environment that is productive and stress less. The design team presents it all well with the aviation spirit.
- Inspiration
- The design is inspired by both the project location in the old airport terminal and the company philosophy of connecting their customers through technology, connecting passengers to great service and connecting their people to opportunities.
- Project Duration
- The project finished in December 2019 at an old Low-Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT) at Sepang, Selangor.
- Operation Flow
- In the open area, the walkway as a runway leading to a dimensional printing of a hole to the universe. This somewhat bizarre arrangement creates a sense of humor against the supposedly harsh and serious environment, allowing people to spend time freely and comfortably on their daily tasks. The office area and the shared recreation area are divided with a row of perforated panels. The perforated panels are good to make the space more open but also to give a sense of privacy to the workers.
